England v South Africa Test Series

Interesting discussion on TMS in the lunch break re the ball tampering. Consensus seemed to be it's such a batsman friendly game thesedays that bowlers need to try to gain every advantage they can! As to why SA didn't protest officially, a nice little turn of phrase used was 'People in glass houses can shout but not throw stones!' :D
Can we save the game? Colly is in so anything's possible.

I thought SA handled it pretty poorly, especially going on about it to the media after the referee has ruled on the matter.

When have we ball tampered?

"It's ok to cheat because bowlers need the help" is a quite pathetic excuse.

I think the suggestion is that all bowlers will have a scratch or a stud into the ball if they can get away with it.

I suppose that's why this comes up every Test. Oh wait, it doesn't.

"But everyone cheats!", especially when they don't, is an even more pathetic excuse.

Don't know, they should have. Not really relevant to the issue of whether a) Broad/Anderson cheated, and b) whether they should be admonished, not defended for this.

Perhaps becasue they have a go at the ball themselves? How do you think bowlers get a ball to reverse?

No. Shining one side helps the ball to swing. Many sides have a 'specialist' shiner of the ball. Reverse swing requires something more.

Didn't it strike you as a strange time to bring it up? SA have their best day in the series, make 300 odd for 2, England have their least effective day in the field and now SA choose to mention it?

Smacks of (more) gamesmanship to me.. how was Kallis reversing it earlier in this innings?

we're running out of time to win this now. i think bell and colly should get out and let swanny and prior have a go
