Stupid experiment, now Lyth (presumably) or whoever has only two matches to get themselves ready for the Ashes, against tough opposition. And in Lyth's case having not player any FC cricket for the best part of six months. It's the end for him, which is a real shame.
England wont get out of this.....
Likewise, trott will not play test cricket again.
England have huffed and puffed against a mediocre Windies team in a series that will end 1-1. NZ and the Aussies will be chomping at the bit to get at us..
The game is undoubtedly entering a new period of volatility, as positions of power and influence start to shift, either by accident, design or a little of both
Couple of things on that.As for Trott..you can't really judge him on these very low scores and I don't think the management would give up on him quite so easily.....even if he is ready for the knackers yard..
Couple of things on that.
1. What else do you judge him on? It's not just the very low scores, it's the very poor shots.
2. He came back in following a decent year in CC, but had a very poor year in tests before he left the team. He's not been that good for around three years now. He's past his best, and doesn't have any recent international form to back him up.
He's gone.
Six innings, 72 runs at an average of 12.He's only got in once and then converted that to a gritty half century.
It's despicable. Giles Clarke, the man who sold English cricket to Sky, is despicable. He has done, and continues to do, enormous harm to the game both here and worldwide. Not seen it mentioned on here yet but this bears keeping an eye. To be fair I have a good deal of sympathy for the other non big three nations, the Eng/Aus/India stitch up at the ICC last year stank, if there is a split Clarke and Srinivasan are a good deal to blame.
Lead is 191, probably not enough. If WI bat half-decently they should win.
WI with 6 down. You heard it here first. On this pitch? I wouldn't like to call it. I certainly don't think it's a foregone conclusion for either side. Should be a good watch.
