Croatia vs England - (SF) - 19:00 - 11/07/2018

That doesn't change the fact that England had in all fairness an easy run and beat the easy teams and came unstuck against better ones. In danger of building up too much hope for the next competition and seeing England encountering and getting beaten by better teams and going home early

As a wet ABE these days I refrained from pointing this out up to today because I didn’t want to come across as a whining shit who was trying to pick holes in something really exciting and fun for a lot of people. England ended up on the side of the pool that was, let’s face it, unprecedented in terms of ease of passage to the final and came up short because ultimately they’re not good enough to beat properly decent teams.

I obviously don’t need reminding that Wales didn’t get there at all

Im just saying reduce expectations! This "In 4 Years They'll Be Brilliant" isnt doing it for me

Well I think it should do. Its the system or set up that's developed those players & this "Team England" that's the key thing to celebrate here - an actual team that play's something that looks a pretty good approximation of international sophisticated stuff. Unlike the foreign mercenarys we've had to put up previously with Southgate is utterly dedicated to this job full time day-in-day-out & is just as involved in the youth teams as the senior one

Do England never learn? you've just been knocked out of the WC having done very little, not beating a singe team ranked above them in the world, and already the pundits in ITV studio are talking about the next world cup and this is the start of something big!!:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
Sweden beat the number 6th ranked team in the world, and we beat Sweden comfortably. Are we supposed to be embarrassed about the fact we couldn't play the higher ranked teams and could only beat the team that knocked them out?

Totally true the next generation look really promising

One thing about todays game is the curse of the early goal...Id like to see stats of how many teams who score in the first 10 minutes go on to lose a game. Seems to happen a lot IME
