Chancellor and Health Secretary quit.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid quit Boris Johnson's cabinet amid a row over the handling of misconduct claims against ex-Deputy Chief Whip Chris Pincher.

They both want the top job then. Interesting times.

I was on a phone call with the radio turned right down, as I got to the end of my call I caught Sunak and Javid have resigned, thought I must be dreaming.

We’ll see what happens because the troops and senior officers had the chance to sort this a month ago and fucked it

Well, as someone pointed out, 41% of Tory MPs voted against Johnson, 81% voted against Corbyn (172 -40), and he didn't go.

I really don't see Johnson surviving this.

By what mechanism does he go then? Another VoNC is out of the question until the 1922 rules are changed. They're not gonna be changed until they've elected a new committee I believe. That could take months.

The grey suits might impress upon him he should resign. Taking their fucking time though aren't they and what if he just says no. Raab and the other deadbeats he's surrounded himself with, have just about enough whit to realise once they're out of cabinet, it's the wilderness for them.

they're saying that the 1922 thing will be reelected & then change their rules next week, and thats the mechanism as far as i understand it. That and the idea that enough of the MPs will think that they have a chance of being allowed to stay on in the next less ridiculous ship. I'm not convinced either that there are enough of those.

The 1922 committee elections are tomorrow, rules can be changed with days, another VoNC is being planned before recess on the 21st.

Modern Prime Ministers earn their cash AFTER they leave office. I always thought he was more into that side of the bargain. Him delivering Brexit is his legacy. Now he can cash in.

Yes he can cash in but that day will always come. Don't underestimate the incredibly powerful ego attraction of being PM, leader of your country. Especially when this has been your destiny since Eton.

The Tory party is very sadly crumbling; if only Johnson toughs it out until the next election.
He recently survived a vote of no confidence which have given him a year.
Sunak and Javid are distancing themselves from him to go for leadership when Johnson finally falls.
I am so not sorry things are progressing like this, it's a right mess 😂
