Chancellor and Health Secretary quit.

how happy do you think Gove was when he had to inform Boris that the jig is up :)

27 now gone, I think, I really can't keep up. Johnson has announced he refuses to quit.
Internationally, am I embarrassed; no. I did. Not, would not, could not vote for him or his party.

"It's the final countdown......"

When the VoNC was being held a few weeks ago someone (might have been brogdale ) was talking about the "payroll vote", ie the number of MPs with government positions.

Can anyone remember what the number was, so we can see what proportion of them have now resigned?

Yeah, estimated at about 160 -170 in total.

was this is going with his ego he going to call a general election in an attempt to vindicate his mandate that should be fun :)

now that the gather most of the cabinet they should have a battle royal to pick the next leader

2 people enter 1 person leaves!!!

If Johnson resigns, he won't be PM anymore (obvs), and he'll be a PM who resigned. That's the sum total of why he won't do it, for any reason, ever. It's more likely that he will be strapped to a rocket and launched into the sun.

They all resign though, or lose an election. Or die, but that hasn't happened for a bit. Resigning is less humiliating than being turfed out by your party, which is the other alternative, and the one he's staring down if he doesn't walk.
That's your opinion. He might consider it more humiliating. His behaviour suggests that his views on what is embarassing are not mainstream.

Gutless Cabinet members not trying to back paddle from telling Boris to leave

jesus this is going to get messy

I don't claim to be able to think from his perspective, and tbh I doubt you can either.
I'm aware that I'm not inside his actual head (thank fuck).

But I can absolutely imagine potential consequences of starting with very different sensibilities to my own.

My point was that it's probably not fruitful to try to predict his behaviour based on what you or I or anyone else thinks is right or logical. He will do what seems right from his perspective, and there's no indication that he thinks resigning is honourable, or preferable to sticking to his (hideous and entitled) guns.

I don't think it's fruitful to make predictions based on cartoon pop psychological assessments of his character either, so.
Well, it's certainly fair to say that my idea of his perspective might be - is likely to be - some degree of wrong!
