At last Americans paid attention at Belarus dictatorship. There is a bill expanding list of personas non grata among Belarus officials. Also this document includes petition to International Ice Hockey Federation to move 2014 IIHF elsewhere from Minsk. And even that wouldn’t be enough. They also should demand to seize European cooperation with Belarus through that stupid Eastern Pratnership.
The atmosphere in Belarus and the actions of Mr. Lukashenka are incompatible with the principles of sport and the noble mission of IIHF. And this decision of carrying on World Champ 2014 in Belarus is pure derision of the hockey fans all over the world. If IIHF wouldn’t listen to the opinion of the world community we would cancel the World Championship 2014 ourselves. There numerous committees of Belarus dictatorship nay-sayers are organizing all over Europe. None of European hockey fan would go to this Championship. Let’s leave Lukashenka with empty stadium.
