Vampire Weekend - s/t

This should be a horrible record. It should make you want to point and laugh. On paper a Strokes wannabe band mixing it up with world music is so crap they should just do it in blackface. But this is a playful, intelligent album, perhaps a little too dinner-party, but a good record nonetheless.

I quite like this.

Maybe I should a little ashamed, for the reasons pointed out here. But I just like it.

Fennesz - Black Sea

Now, I've not even heard of this guy, but for two urbanites it was album of the year, and was mentioned in despatches by others, so here's what the internet says about him: Fennesz is a towering figure in the world of experimentalelectronica, whose worldwide influence is readily apparent. Here he continues to use his patented digitally-processed electric guitar technique to create granular washes of ambient sound, but this time with a darker, less pop-influenced tone than before. Now we know.

Fantastic album - my album of the year:)

Vivian Girls only one so far and will probably be the only one but will kick myself if there's a Black Mountain lobby here and i forgot to vote for it. as with Frightened rabbit.

Back to listening to The Donkeys...was no point in voting for that one but it's great

10

Yeah, I know, I just realised I fucked up... Santogold should have been on this list as well, back with lindstrom, SMZ, and the Fall. But nevermind that now, let's go to number 10 in our charts...

M83 - Saturday = Youth

Young people are cool. They have haircuts and can wear wacky outfits without looking like total cunts. They dance in clubs. They have lie ins or, get this, don't go to bed at all. I hate them. The bloke who made this album didn't get bitter, he got wistful, so he made this album about being 15. I haven't heard it, so I got nothing to say, is it worth my eartime? I'd expect it to be horrible, tbh.

Here's the other urbanite who had fennesz as album of the year. There can't have been that many votes :D
