90s techno thread

I found this one too. Turns out Justin David was quite prolific in the 90s with jazz/techno productions, haven't listened to a bad one yet. This is his best imo, it sounds other worldly

this one, this has to be the best tune I've heard in a long time─ it's the nuts.

also, never heard of mick pointer either

Over on the 90s techno nostalgia facebook group, there's a long 'post your studio' thread, with photos of many elaborate and expensive set ups, each one seemingly larger and with more lights and knobs and switches than the one before... Then at the bottom this, and you can see the thread deflate immediately.

I don't think it's meant to be a 90s nostalgia rather a general techno group although I have noticed the majority of the posts are 90s themed

perhaps - I'm a member of a (much smaller) music group where the competition is more towards posting the newest and most obscure stuff, and that's been totally disappearing up it's own arse lately. :D I love it all though tbf. Today's biggest lols on the techno nostalgia group is Oliver Bondzio from Hardfloor shitposting like a pro.

it moves too fast that group. what's he been up to?

I like Jim, when I used to go out more, I'd sometimes go to Jim's nights, if he was on or by the door, he'd let us in for £2.50 or something silly.

The honeymoon is over. Mr C has turned up, so the group will rapidly go downhill as he's weapons grade prick online (and in person)

damn, that's good.

I've been digging through the trance in recent weeks, there's loads that's good. It's just mostly too fast - play it at -8 and you're on a winner.

I've been playing EVERYTHING at minus 8 during lockdown (well 0.75 playback speed on youtube).

A lot of trance really is just awful but I have reached a point where I can appreciate the most awesome bits without cringing at myself-in-1997

Can't deny it musically... it is proper nice clean floaty squelchy sounds. I reckon part of my aversion to the genre come from the creepy people at the trance parties I went to in my late teens/early 20s.

But actually the best trance tunes seem to have that same creepy weird feel.... as opposed to the awful ones that are just euphoric bombast

Paul Birken's YT channel is worth checking out.
