i’d recommend the facebook group ‘real techno’ recently started by jim masters, darren emerson and others - they’ve set up a youtube channel which automatically aggregates clips posted in the group too
I'm not sure if this really goes here, but it's not really house music either so I guess it might as well do. It's been on repeat all afternoon anyway, early 90s Derrick Carter...
I picked up the album from the carboot sale years ago, but never really listened beyond the epic opening track before (which is also really good) - shame cause the rest of it is brilliant. That's the high point though. That’s amazing, haven’t heard that before. It sounds more UK than Chicago. Those strings give it a dubstep/grime tension, but there’s so many other layers
Not sure where else to put this but the building that hosted my beloved Orbit nightclub, "the 'Graceland' of 90’s Electronic dance music" ( ) faces demolition:
"It's a cultural heritage site": Bid to save home of world-famous Leeds nightclub due to be auctioned
A last minute bid to save the former home of a world-famous club night in Morley has been launched.www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk
I think some former patrons have a started a futile kickstarter to buy it
Sven Vath should buy it!Hope some of the former DJs will throw some money at it. Haven't read the article yet, but can imagine the futility you mention.
Sven Vath should buy it!
loads of orbit appropriate djs, just not from the old guard.
I finally started getting into that real techno group on facebook, it is awesome actually, still a lot of good tunes and stories getting posted.
who?yeah but they started deleting helmet's posts. a shame.
Ohh I thought his posts were starting to get some tractionyeah but they started deleting helmet's posts. a shame.
who?
Isn't he the guy/woman, whose posts make absolutely no sense whatsoever & go on for an eternity. Possibly a German writing/translating into English, possibly not?
He's a techno legend
Downloaded a big folder of what looked like interesting tunes and it had this comp in it
Woops! Just about to hit delete but spotted some interesting contributors - in fact its got a couple (no more) nice (ambient)techno bits in amongst it - seemingly exclusive to the comp. Worth a digVarious - Trance Europe Express²
