Shufelt dutifully complied with the request, removing the Effing Filet O’ Fish from the menu.
“As a small business owner, you open your inbox and there’s a letter from a lawyer telling you to cease and desist. There’s a moment of panic and anxiety,” said Shufelt. “But then you start reading it and you can’t help but laugh.”
The restaurant recently announced a new – and trademarked – burger: the McEffing Fish Filet.
“We’re changing the name and complying with what they want, but still taking a little jab at them.”
McDonald's has a purpose. I prefer not to eat there (or Burger King ... or purchase an American product for that matter) but there are times when it's the most logical alternative to nothing. What I have noticed - and it baffles me - is that there are two places in town where there were a McD and a Burger King in very close proximity but McD has left both locations leaving Burger King to service the fast-food market. Is McD in decline?ive recently flipped through some protest photos posted by the editor, and next to one, he proclaimed something like "heres a boarded up McD, id like to see them all this way"
now i thought that was a truly stupid thing to say. in his eyes, all he sees is the golden arch logo and boom = evil capitalists. but think about all the positives that McD and others like it bring to society. they employ thousands of people, donate millions to charity (i.e. McD house for kids). a homeless or poor man who before had to beg for a meal, can now buy a relatively satisfying meal for $2-3. there is whats called the McD effect. it goes something like, 'any 2 countries that have a McD, will not fight each other in a war.' its not totally correct, but the premise is there. McD generates huge capital that is essential for local economies. before the editor says something like that, maybe he should think twice about the effects on society of such actions.
the only thing i would blame McD for is the relative unhealthiness of its food (cholesterol, etc). Their fries is fucking great though.

Who is doing business in the "healthier fare" ... Subway? Bagel shops? Sushi?McDonald's sales in the US have been shrinking over the last four years or so. They have been for most fast food chains. People are wanting healthier fare. You shouldn't worry about them as a company though. They have other holdings that serve that market. I think their stock price is about triple what it was a decade ago.

I've never heard of Chipotle. What do they serve?I think they own Chipotle and a couple of others.
Well .... tortillas and I don't know if the ingredients are that much different than that of bread. I think they are made with either flour or maize - soft or hard-shell. You're probably right about the shit but at least the jalapenos keep the bowels moving.Ibread or no bread, im fairly sure it'll still be full of shit. It's often served with tacos?
Burger King isn't doing too well itself. They seem to have all but disappeared from central London (there's still five or six but there used to be four times that).McDonald's has a purpose. Mac's keeps me moving...in the other direction
There used to be a Whimpy bar and KFC on every corner in Johannesburg. Seriously, if you stood in front of one you could see another one within eye-shot.I notice the Wimpy near clapham junction has gone, soon to be a nandos.
They are doing well here in Sweden. They are standing their ground in locations where MacDo has packed up and left. The railway station and central square are but two examples.Burger King isn't doing too well itself. I live within walking distance of three of them but I do live in 70s throwback country (Romford). And all of them just have that feel of a chain in trouble. They are doing well here in Sweden. Sounds as if they are doing very well. We've only got perhaps 5 or 6 of them all told with a city population of 300,000.I live within walking distance of three of them but I do live in 70s throwback country (Romford). And all of them just have that feel of a chain in trouble.
You must have sent them over to us.At least they've stopped giving away stupid plastic toys with kids meals.
McDonald's portion sizes are still shit. I would need three standard beanburger meals (I'm far from vegetarian but I won't eat their shit burgers) to get anywhere near a filling lunch.Maybe they'll get desperate enough to attempt a hipster-friendly makeover where they cut the menu back to 9 items from the 1950s and boast about being the authentic taste of 1950s America. They'd go out of business pretty quickly if they tried giving people the relatively tiny portion sizes of the '50s though...
That’s because you’re a large adult bloke. The starting point for us is a quarter pounder. Single pattie burgers/bean burgers are for kids and small women. The actual burgers are pretty standard sizes with the meat weighing in at 45-50g per (regular) burger. Same as BK. The decline of McDs and BK is more likely down to the gentrification of the hamburger. Instead of them, we’re now seeing the likes of GBK, Byron, and the piss-taking Five Guys. The original BK Angus was a fucking good burger and the double version with large chips was a decent meal. Unfortunately it's now the base for whatever rubbish burger of the month they're doing and trying to get them to do one without all the extra crap on it can be a battle. That’s because you’re a large adult bloke. Along with at least 6 nuggets, large fries and a side of those cheese dipper things. The starting point for us is a quarter pounder
I go to McDs around once a fortnight. Mainly because I always seem to have those £1.99 #haggle vouchers for a QPWC and medium fries which is pretty decent. It is not fine dining but you know what you are getting.
When I lived in China my standard McD's order was a large Big Mac meal, an extra big mac, a medium portion of nuggets (9?) and a pineapple pie. Came in under three quid.Along with at least 6 nuggets, large fries and a side of those cheese dipper things.
Meal is £4.79See these vouchers that they liberally print in the Metro etc are, in theory, pretty decent. I have never bought a QPWC on its own, but it must be at least £3 so to get one plus chips for £1.99 is a good deal. But if the burger is cold, then its all pointless. Better off going to Greggs and getting a steak and cheese roll, that may well be cold too but at least its only a quid.
