Marcus Fakana - Dubai and why not to go there

A lot of British Asian and black people holiday in Dubai because whatever kind of shithole it is, it's not as racist as most of Europe. I don't fancy it and I reckon anyone who's spent more than a few weeks working there is an irredeemable cunt, but I particularly wouldn't blame people who holiday there because they don't fancy being abused in France or Spain.

I'd be interested to see how many black and Asian people do holiday there, particularly since in the last few years people have generally become far more aware of the Emirati treatment of South Asians. I'd also be keen to have a look at the treatment of BAME Brits in Spain. Whilst accepting that anecdotal experience isn't evidence, as a British Asian, I've lived in, and travelled extensively throughout Spain and never felt particularly uncomfortable, and I'm unaware of anyone who has.

You're right though, that people holidaying in the UAE are unlikely to experience it's sinister side. They usually only come into contact with Indians and Pakistanis in hotels and restaurants, and they smile and serve rounds of drinks that would cost them six months wages, before being bussed-out to portacabin cities in the desert or slums outside the city at the end of their shifts, so they're out of sight.

Like you, I wouldn't blame people who go there unaware of what's going on beneath the paper thin veneer of "lovely people who are always smiling", but the veil's falling and anyone who holidays there with full knowledge of what's happening is an arsehole, regardless of their race or colour.

Evacuate the place and nuke it to fucking glass.

Nothing to do with this particular story, which I was unaware of until today... I used to think that I might be interested in visiting Dubai but having seen the sorts of people who tend to go there, I'm glad I never got around to it.
My sister lived over there running a pub in a hotel complex for a year or so back in the early 90s (or maybe late 80s). Hated it.

Most, if not all, of the slave labour in Dubai is done by South Asians. The conditions they live in are horrific, they have their passports taken away and they have to work in all weathers. Some of them deliberately get run over so their wages can go home to their families. Before anyone says it, no, Britain isn't great either but Dubai is just on another level when it comes to slavery.
That's my abiding memory of having to spend a week there for work. Getting an Uber to the office in the morning, and seeing all of these large buses full of sad looking people from South Asia being driven to construction sites. The buses had been converted to have metal cages over the windows, presumably to prevent escape.

Ah, I didn't know you have to be 18. My point still stands otherwise. He doesn't deserve to be banged up for it.

Yeah, have a couple of mates who work/holiday there. The guy who works there is British Hindu and used to complain about Muslims, was pro-Israel and pro-IRA. Slight confusing...

The other mate doesn't really do politics apart from BLM and female black empowerment (her words) and I'd never disagree with her because not been in her shoes. Just curious why that particular place is her choice of holiday, given the treatment of women there.

Of course, as you say, there's racially abuse in Europe and that's really in your face sometimes. My wife was subject to it in a few places.

Obviously the UAE is beyond disgusting and to be avoided at all costs. One point about their prisons, by all accounts they are clean, tidy and safe, with good food and not the hell-holes you might imagine them to be. Still a fucking prison though.

Anecdotal but these prisons aren’t exactly as you describe at least according to call it to LBC this morning. 30 people to the room, not enough mattresses.

It's handsdown the worst fucking place I've ever been and I've been to some right old messes. How the fuck I didn't get arrested there when I used to go now and then for work I don't know. Friday is their Saturday, so it's a day off. So the hotels all do all you can drink deals for the ex-pats. It's absolute carnage. I was getting smashed every night, not just the fridays.

Use of sex workers is also rife amongst the ex-pats which bizarrely the authorities just turn a blind eye to. I remember once going to what was something like a big warehouse where you could stroll around selecting your girl based on their national flag above their group. It was like some twisted version of the Olympics opening ceremony.

I should add I didn't participate in that, I was in the company of a bunch of work guys who did though, I had no idea wtf I was going into. One wanker did slip me $500 and said go for it, your wife won't hear about it. 😞

What you get for listening to Loudmouth Bigot Cunts radio, innit.

I have no idea what the girl's mum was thinking, but they were both under the age of consent in Dubai, which is what is relevant

Unless you're suggesting we should be able to say "your funny foreign laws don't apply to me, I'm British"

If the reporting is to be fully believed, it looks like the girl's mother waited until she and her daughter were safely back in the UK, so out of reach of any action against her daughter, before reporting the boy.

So it may well be that she knew exactly what she was doing and what the likely repercussions were?

It's all a bit strange. Who exactly did she get in touch with once she was back in the UK? Did they ask for evidence, or just rush off to interview the kid, who didn't have the nous to deny it? Didn't they say anything about the illegal conduct of her own daughter?

The mum found pictures on her daughter's phone. Which presumably were explicit.

Do people photograph themselves having sex nowadays? A picture of a naked body on its own isn't proof of anything.

I'm also dubious of whether the mother really only found out about it all afterwards, or whether she just waited until she and her daughter were out of there.

I don't understand why anyone would want to visit a place like that. I used to work with a female colleague who reckoned on visiting once, maybe twice a year for guaranteed sun and shopping. There are people around who choose not to care.

I daresay there were two bodies in the image

Unbelievable behaviour by the girl's parents, reporting this to the Dubai authorities, knowing that the boy could have got 20 years in jail!

I hope I'm wrong but knowing the type of people who holiday there, I'm wondering if there's a racial motive going on.

Woman doesn't like the idea of daughter shagging a black lad so waits until they're back in the UK to make a complaint that she knows will drop him in the shit there, but wouldn't be a crime here.

Marcus has been jailed for a year for having sex with a 17 year old when he was 17.
Even though he broke the law, it would be a heartless person that did not feel for the lad.
17 years old and a year in a rough adult ( I presume ) prison doesn't bare thinking about.
I just hope the girls mother feels proud of herself ( not ) for reporting this.

Not surprised the nefandous lammy lifted not a finger to help his constituent

Girl's mum is a cunt but, maybe I'm being naive here, how the fuck did she know who to contact?

in accordance with procedures recognised internationally, her mother - being the legal guardian - filed the complaint."

What are these internationally recognized procedures? That she knew about and I don't.

I think it shows she's taken a lot of trouble to do this, unfathomable vindictiveness.

They must have upgraded since I was last there (2001). Then, they were sitting on the trailers of articulated lorries.

Exactly.

Like Spy, I wondered if there was a racial aspect as well, but we don't know the ethnicity of the girl, do we?
