Who will win the 2024 US election?

Who will win?

Do you know what? The Democratic party (funny sort of democracy) establishment has been humiliated, and its entire paradigm has been exposed as politically bankrupt. And I'm glad.

That's my first reaction.

It didn't make any difference when the same thing happened eight years ago, don't expect it to now.

Well, there you go. Hate to say it, but I did think this was going to happen. It really was kinda obvious for anyone paying attention :(

Just listening to the radio it seems it was a case of young men vs. young women. More young men voted? Or are there more young men in the USA? Usually there are slightly more women than men, population wise. Fucking hell. Disaster.

Only one potential siver lining is no more financial aid to Israel's war machine?

The world's going to pay a high price for you getting that feeling of satisfaction

Like, trump also invoked the bogeyman of 'the radical left'. He did that consistently. It's not like if they'd have chosen AOC or someone, the result would be different. Everyone failed. Marxists, 'never trump' republicans, generic liberals.

Yep. This is a victory of individualism over any sense of collective politics.

Harder to invoke if people feel their lives are improving. Food and housing is a third more expensive in the US than the UK and they have to pay for health care.

I do agree more than a few people are reacting against even a whiff of progressive politics

Yuwipi Woman mentioned that the supposedly booming economy seems to be mainly on the seaboards, and that there’s a huge divide between urban and rural.

I thought of our own “left behind” former seaside resorts and post industrial midland and northern towns where the far right have achieved success.

Even on the coasts many people's experience of the boom will be being priced out. That's also happening here and not just in London.
