Who is going to win the 2016 Tory leadership election?

who is going to win the 2016 tory leadership election?

Gove has just made a speech promising to implement as prime minister the promises he made campaigning in a referendum where the membership overwhelmingly voted for his platform.

If he makes the last two, he wins. The other stuff doesn't matter next to that.

Quite possibly, but as Gove has a reputation for being a speech 'sounding-board' for other colleagues, I'd imagine that he is quite hands-on with his own. At the very least, a speech of such proportions suggests a fair degree of preparedness.

It was 5000 words long

Just read Gove's speech. Bloody hell, talk about long-winded.
the pompous get. Must be a frustrated novelist in him. Usually is in journos ex or otherwise
getting to be quite horrifying the way they dangle the NHS around like a plaything to shore up the w/c vote. The non BUPA vote. Bad enough they do it for a GE but its getting out of hand now. And we know they are gagging to flog it off anyway

Will "loads of money Leadsom" take Arron Banks dosh to help her?

Not if she wants a single Tory remainer to vote for her - and lots of other outers aren't keen either.

He's too crass, too obvious and too very obviously a bit if a loon to touch - if he's dissatisfied with UKIP as his personal vehicle then he's going to be a nightmare of a backseat driver.

UKIP, and all their works, you'll notice being about as popular as Ebola - or Boris - in Tory party at the moment...

It's of note that 3 Tory MP's were at Goves' launch this morning. There were nearly 60 at Teresa May's yesterday....

Given the uncertainties of a Tory election I'd not say that means he's dead in the water, but if you want to take a punt on him just make sure it's money you don't need to see again.

Don't be so sure; secret ballots, innit?

He used to do that arts programme that was on after newsnight, what the fuck was it called? It was like a having a dead mackerel reviewing a novel.

'Emerged' my arse. That clip has been on YouTube for years. There was one where he interviewed a masked terrorist as well iirc

Gove doesn't fare especially well in today's papers. His chum Dacre declares for May with immense enthusiasm

As for his chum Murdoch, the Sun rather takes the piss.

Of course the press are unlikely to have much influence over Tory MP's decision making. Perhaps more suggestive is the fact that there is a fair bit of coverage of the hostility he has aroused among some of them. Several papers suggest Leadsom is ahead of him in the race to be the anti-May candidate, although in terms of declared supporters she, Crabb and Gove are neck and neck. May has five times as many as any of them.

However only half of Tory MPs have declared and until Tuesday's ballot we won't really know where they all stand. Unless another one gets chucked under the bus before then of course :)

Still can't figure out what Goves up to, he must know he hasn't a cat in hells chance, and knowing that he has scuppered the only Brexit politician who had a good chance of becoming PM and implementing Article 50,and practically ensuring the election of a remainder who will have a leaning to look at opportunities to upset the democratic decision recently taken.
What is going on? Surely can't just be a purely personal decision by the Bullington set to scupper an upstart?
