US election 2020 thread

Pretty poor article about Trump vs Biden by Jonathan Freedman in today's Guardian (Saturday 24th)

It's worth a quick look though, just to see where liberal paranoia can take a fool.
He even admits himself that he's being irrational, almost paranoid.
And he even allows for Biden's strengths in the final paragraph, thus proceeding to directly contradict all the earlier stuff in his article.
Freedman is a disgusting gobshite. If Sanders had won the nomination, he'd be calling him racist by about now.

Anyway, Texas has hurtled past 75% of '16 turn out. Nearly 7m votes in so not long until 50% of registered voters have voted in the state. 125% of '16 early vote.

All eyes on the biggest counties to see how many more they can turn out than last time. Most of those counties were either heavily Clinton or flipped for O'Rourke

National turn out has passed 40% - only NY and HI not reporting numbers now and NY early voting starts today so presumably they may finally post some figures soon

first day of early voting here in NYC. in my precinct, line completely around the block, then past the beginning and down the avenue. (i'm waiting for midweek.)
I've seen a lot of disparaging comments on social media regarding NY elections compared to many other states - what do you reckon?

Lincoln project says the ad will stay up

I expect The Lincoln Project will refer the honorable Mr Kasowitz to the well known case of Arkell Vs Pressdram.

in NYC, the BOE botched the mailing of absentee ballots this year. it's been corrected i think but it was quite a black eye.

Oh dear. And fewer early voting days than anybody as well I think?

About fucking time and long overdue.

Biden sounds like Biden but Trump sounds like.... who?

It's a fair point. Everyone in CO has their ballot mailed to them. Dems are returning them far quicker than Republicans. If they don't hurry up you have to ask if there's actually an enthusiasm deficit and whether this is going to be true for other states as well

Anyway, 57.5m people have voted nationally (actually more, NY still hasn't reported any and may not at all). TX has over 76% of its '16 vote in. Harris should finish today around 200k short of its total '16 vote. Not much doubt that this is going to be a big one.

'Registered Republicans' can change their vote tho cant they.
Yeah, nobody's obliged to vote their party affiliation

CO won't be close btw, will easily be Dem. Most of those indys will be voting Biden. But the question remains - you're a Republican, you have your ballot sitting on the kitchen table, there's just over a week to go, 96% of voters were happy to vote by mail in '16 and there are options to drop off your ballot in person as well... so, when are you going to do it?
