US election 2020 thread

Yep, that's about it.

Couple of things to give optimism: Georgia was the only state for which the polls predicted Trump to win (by a wafer-thin margin) that was actually won by Biden; also, the high early voting, especially among black people, indicates another strong Democrat turnout.
Also, the Dems hve a huge advantage amongst younger voters (i.e. <40). If they are energised enough to turn out, both Dems will win.

I don't think "y'all" is a word.

Well, it’s not a single word but it’s a proper thing, like you’re and they’re and can’t and your’n . Are they words? What do we call them?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y'all

And I see it being used a lot amongst internet people, you tubers, content makers or whatever they’re being called. Providers. Content providers,

Because I've got family in the South it’s been a word we use in the family - even the London branch - since I was a child. It’s quite odd to see it becoming more mainstream.

Trying to go to bed now but feeling antsy about this election.

sadly, he seems to have jumped the gun as the reps are currently extending their leads (although the dems are still optimistic)

Not sure. They have a slight lead, but seemingly not one that extrapolates to a win. They are doing less well, at present, than Trump did against Biden, it is reported.

Fulton still to come in. Some 'respected' editor has just called it for Warnock. A bigger turnout in Fulton than in November.

I was just making a rather weak pithy joke as it was being used in a plea to stop discussing whether something else was a word :)

But never mind all that now - this looks like exciting news to be waking up to from Georgia!

It's going to be a fun day for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell tomorrow - he'll wake up to find out the party has lost its Senate majority, followed by 14 hours or however long dissenters stretch it out for in the session of Congress to certify Joe Biden's election win, followed by a ranting Trump calling him a traitor and a loser for failing to somehow overturn the election.

Obviously, he deserves it all, because he's Mitch McConnell.
