US election 2020 thread

The AP have called Michigan for him so 264 is as official as it can be. If Nevada do make an announcement it could be all over very soon.
Nevada aren't counting any more till tomorrow morning (1pmish our time) I'm told, so dont hold your breath.

Weren't they counting later last night?
Probably, but it normally is so obviously republican they needn't bother finishing for a couple of days. There are always states that declare final results late, but they rarely matter.

e2a: New York has currently counted 84% of its vote, Florida 96% for example

America is not being united by this election. A narrow Biden victory also means Trumpism has been legitimized. It's embedded in the Republican party now. McConnell and Graham will set their sights on 2024 by crippling Biden and smearing Harris. He won't be permitted to undo what Trump has done and he'll be hobbled by the economic damage of the pandemic. Republicans will put the blame for it on him, and rally round a 2024 Trumpist candidate. Maybe Don Junior.

Maybe so, maybe not. Congress and the Senate, may or may not be locked in a constant situation of stalemate for the next 48 moons.

But for now, the CUNT is gone. Let’s at least be grateful for that. If only for the symbolism. Though I appreciate (with an overwhelming emetic feeling) that 63,000,000-plus, US citizens voted for him.

(hope I haven’t spoken to soon there!)

Worrying to learn that voting rights in the US are not solidly enshrined in the constitution...

In the UK we don't actually have one ...:hmm:

Up for the morning shift. Trump clearly knows he's lost and the stop the vote protests are drawing no more than a few hundreds.
The legal challenges and recounts will mean, at worst, a few delays.
All looks embarrassingly desperate.
Hopefully the less batshit parts of his party and right wing media will chuck in the towel.
Im cautiously hopeful that biden has done well enough ro turn trumps spoiler efforts into a damp squib.

A polite phonecall conceding defeat was never going to be his style, it's just not orange enough.

His supporters aren't going to pack up their placards are head on home for breakfast nicely either, they are going to go out with a bang .... Which makes it a bit unfortunate they are all armed with guns :hmm:

There's a lot of evidence that the left have been arming up this year too. Robert Evans who frightened so many of us with his It Could Happen Here podcast reckons the right wing larpers are stepping back now precisely because a couple of them have been shot at demos recently and it's all getting a bit real. It's no fun marching around in camo with an assault rifle if someone might actually shoot you. In which case I reckon they should shoot a few more just to make sure.

Alaska would be soo cool and tidy up the coastline ...

I had the urge to check Palin's Twitter after seeing a weird video she recently posted..

She's keeping schtum ...
