Ugh - big wins for Biden in Michigan and Idaho as well as the more predictable Southern states, he's even running close to Sanders in Washington, where Sanders won big in every county in 2016, doesn't look like there's much hope of a Sanders comeback after this unless he somehow wins in Florida and Ohio next week.
It's over for Bernie. The party machine has done a good job producing Biden to be fair, although its problems really begin when he becomes the candidate. He is a walking disaster. To coalesce around a man with a clear degenerative mental condition is not only irresponsible its a recipe for a heavy defeat.
But the forces that have mobilised behind Sanders need to reflect on what has been achieved and where next. All of the evidence suggests that the polarisation of American politics will become more profound over the next 5 years. Sanders has politicised and energised a generation of young activists. He has built alliances that will endure. Its tasks are very similar to the ones we face here - to revive the Labour and trade union movement, to build social movements around issues like the green new deal and to defend communities and to agglomerate their resources for next time.
