Urban75 Album of the Year 1993

I'm amazed that Cypress Hill was so low down the order. Or high, depending on how you look at it.

And whether you're a member of Cypress Hill I guess

TBH Insane in the Brain is an irritating song that's both the most memorable and the worst song on the album (IMO from one listen). People probably underrate the rest of it because of that song.

My opinion, each track is pretty much perfect on its own right, and I cant think of many other albums where every track got as much DJ play, I love the production, I just find it exhausting as an album .. It's a voice to take in small doses.

Talking of the Riot Girrrl thing... Again this is a pure attitude thing. Or is it? You see the thing is this group weren't afraid of finding a groove and just sticking with it. A lot of rock bands still thought they were bloody song writers making structures and the like leaving them well behind the techno and hip hop crowds. This is one of the few. I approve. More on this topic below - entry 15.

19 - Αρλέτα [Arleta] - Μετά τιμής [Meta Timis]

Greek folk I guess. Understated and sumptuous. OK this is my new favourite album.
I'm glad to hear you liked it. Arleta came out of the Greek New Wave of the 1960s. She had an amazing voice with a massive vocal range and she was a brilliant song writer. If you want to get into her stuff, I'd recommend Ένα Καπέλο με Τραγούδια which came out in 1981. Also her first two albums from 1966 and 1967.

Thanks. This one seems to have been her last, which makes it more poignant.
