The New Tories - Ruthlessly Incompetent. Post Examples of Tory Stupidity Here

Unbelievable. Fining someone because they have no where to live. Ministers should be fined for not providing anywhere.
Capital will not meet even the most basic, physiological needs of the population and the victims will be criminalised; and vermin politicians fret about identifying extremists.

People sleeping in the streets who have £2.5k are clearly making a lifestyle choice ...not sure who they are but can see why the tories are upset with them...fucking unfair though on the sizeable number of homeless who can't pay a £2.5k fine they probably wouldn't even be sleeping rough if they did have that sort of money

As with many things, feels like the Tories have completely misjudged this. I'm guessing many people are like me and look at homeless people and think 'there but for the grace of God' and wonder why there are so many people (including lots who're mentally unwell) sleeping on the streets and where the fuck support services are.

On the other side of that coin, there will be some who are serious, like the Rwanda thing.

Tbf Come across homeless increasingly often ...none of them come across as potential tory voters

EXCLUSIVE
Honeytrap sext scandal: Tory MP William Wragg admits leaking phone numbers

‘I’ve hurt people by being weak. I was scared. I’m mortified. I’m so sorry.’ says spearphishing attack victim

William Wragg handed colleagues’ phone numbers to a man he met on a gay dating app

Thursday April 04 2024, 7.10pm, The Times

A senior Conservative MP has admitted his involvement in a honeytrap sexting scandal targeting a minister and fellow MPs.

William Wragg, chairman of a Commons select committee, told The Times he handed over the personal phone numbers of colleagues to a man he met on Grindr, a gay dating app.

The vice-chairman of the 1922 committee said he provided the details after sending intimate pictures of himself to the user. Wragg said he was “scared” that the man “had compromising things on me”.

Those colleagues — which included several MPs, members of their staff and a political journalist — were sent unsolicited flirtatious messages from senders identifying themselves as “Charlie” or “Abi”.

It is understood two MPs responded by sending an explicit picture of themselves.

Hang on minute, this sounds very much like the sort of behaviour that Dan Wooten was exposed as doing, over a number of years. :hmm:

it only took a few MPs getting caught with their trousers down to take down the Tories in 97. There were lots of resignations and Little Britain style displays of fake humble contrition, which the voters saw through and voted accordingly . There is nothing of the sort these days.
What’s changed?

what makes you think it was unsolicited ?

Wragg says
"I got chatting to a guy on an app and we exchanged pictures. We were meant to meet up for drinks, but then didn't. Then he started asking for numbers of people. I was worried because he had stuff on me. He gave me a WhatsApp number, which doesn't work now.

he's a fool, not a sex offender.
people do consensually exchange intimate pics on dating/hookup apps all the time. in this case it seems it was a honeypot not a genuinely interested guy, and they used the threat of releasing the pics to blackmail him into providing info on other MPs.

And that, children, is why you should never send naked pictures of yourself to randoms. (People clearly do this but must admit I find it utterly bizarre.)
or just make sure your face & anything else identifying is cropped out. make sure all pics are useless for extortion.

what makes you think it was unsolicited ?
I tried to make it seem like I was asking if someone doing that is placedon the register rather than Wragg had sent it unsolicited. I'm not sure what the law says these days.
Apologies.

Shouldn't someone sending unsolicited dick pics go on the sex offenders register. How on earth does someone that stupid even become an MP.
If that was enough to get you on the sex offenders register, there wouldn't be any space left. 🤷‍♀️

(Don't get me wrong, I think it's gross but it's very, very common unfortunately.)

ah sorry, I've gotten the wrong end of the stick.

cyber-flashing as it is known, or more precisely
sending sexually explicit images with the intent to cause alarm, distress, or humiliation is an offence that'll get you on the register as of this year.
e.g. Cyber-flashing convict is first to be jailed under new law

that part about intent does leave a lot of wriggle room…

They've just changed the law on this haven't they: Court jails first person convicted of cyberflashing in England

Although I guess it was probably technically an offence before. I would think it would get you on the sex offenders register, being a sex offence and all, although I'm not 100%.
Good. Though I'm interested to see how it's enforced/what impact it actually has given how normalised this stuff has got.

(Normalised if utterly shit and rage-inducing. )

A spokesman for the Electoral Commission suggested the directing of the domain names to Mr Jupp’s website did not break any election law.

He said: “There is nothing in electoral law concerning the use of website domain names by candidates.

“The content of campaign material does not fall within our regulatory remit so it wouldn’t be for us to investigate.”
