As the tradgedy unfolded there was scant attention paid to the topic. I was surprised to come on here and note no threads when most threads do of course deal with America on the world politics forum.

Like fuck, no one else gets that sort of treatment. If you put up a duplicate thread you get abused till it is binned, if you complain there is no thread when there are you get laughed at untill it's binned. Maybe you misunderstand, there is no patience for duplicate threads on this site except in a few cases where there is enough divergence to warrant it. Show me where another poster gets notably different responses to an utterly wrong claim such as "there aren't any threads on this topic".

Just because you don't go to other threads doesn't mean you're excused if you make a really fucking thick comment which you haven't taken the time to check for.

Remmeber Broussard he's the fella that was blubbing about a colleagues mother being left to drown. He's since been taken to task by GOP pondslime for daring to imply that Federal government might bear some reponsibility for the failures in the Katrina response.

There's a WMV of a follow up interview were he gets to reply. He doesn't shed a tear this time and tramples the partisan shit throwers. He said given a decent nights sleep he'd face any of his critics. I don't know how they sleep.

Bit behind the times, but: WTAPS (what the above poster said)

The reasons I've become so addicted to urban are:

• unlike party-specific discussion lists I'm on, u75 is not a homogeneous community, so the discussions/arguments/all-out wars are more interesting (sometimes I even modify my opinions as a result of them! )
• most of its active members post in several fora, so you get a chance to see them as a real person, not a set of co-ordinates on a political graph.

That's why I read, with the exception of some local fora, the whole board. IMHO, anyone who registers on urban and then only reads and posts in one forum (whether they be a complete munger in Drugs or a DA type in P & P) is missing the point of this place entirely.
