Is there such a thing as "extreme left"?

I dunno, but i sometimes wonder are there actually any communists, anarchists, anrcho syndicalists etc on these boards?
Plenty who can regurgitate learned factoids and analysys of the various left-isms but I've not read much indication from those types that they are walking the walk.
I have communised
The wolves
That were in
The forest

And which
You were probably
Saving
For the revolution

Forgive me
They were beautiful
So elegant
And so hungry

See also, the endless rightward shift of 'common sense' which many people invoke as if it were a set of inviolable precepts that have existed since the dawn of time.
I think theres a long list of left wing ideas that most people would consider common sense.... From nationalising natural monopolies to reappropriating the land of aristocratic families...the "extreme left" would do well to maintain a brand of humdrum common sense and counter the effective slur of "loony left"

I don't like being called "extreme" when apparently non-extremist governments have killed millions of innocent people over the years. I've never killed anyone. I don't even eat animals ffs 😂 I think I'm pretty mild compared to them (anarchist communist ftr).
Spot on.

I thought Dave Morris was very good on this in his testimony to the Undercover Policing Inquiry:

The various groups I have been involved in over the decades have been open and collectively run, and engaged in the kind of public activities which the public are invited to join in or to replicate for themselves, and which are essential if humanity is to progress and survive in the future.

Such groups, as we all should, question and challenge those institutions which wield power over people's lives and control the world's resources and decision-making. These include governments, transnational corporations, military organisations and financial institutions. Such powerful institutions are generally tightly controlled by a small, self-serving elite, continually obsessed with power and profit, and are ruthless and unaccountable. In fact, as I outlined in more detail in my April 2021 statement, they are subversive of society and people's real needs. They are the real subversives that need to be investigated. Indeed, they are also the inevitable cause of most of what the Special Demonstration Squad would define as "public disorder" in response to injustice.

Unsurprisingly, such institutions have made a shocking mess of the world for centuries, causing mass hardship and poverty, disempowerment, discrimination and oppression, exploitation of workers and resources, horrific wars and large-scale environmental destruction. They have brought humanity to the brink of nuclear annihilation, and have been systematically exploiting and destroying the natural environment upon which human society depends for our survival.

loud cunts who wander wound claiming to be the silent majority normally :hmm:
the vocal minority
Centrism is just the right wing pretending to be something else. It's not actually any kind of coherent ideology.
as a centrist dad (not a father) I take exception to this mislabelling of my mild views of hang them all and to all for their need and from all from their ressources
No but lots of centrists seem to think otherwise.

"common sense is what tells you that the earth is flat"

Of course there is. This guy looks familiar, can't really remember who he is though.

At the risk of being called a liberal lol i tend to agree that the authoritarianism scale is a better one these days honestly. These days I'd probably classify myself as more centre left tbh, whether others agree is up to them though. I consider it centre left tho in that I'm to the right of many people on here on a few issues but probably way to the left of most people calling themselves 'centrists'
I'm still a communist, but despite my nerdy interest in all aspects of its history (I used to maintain a blog on the relations between Vietnamese and Cambodian Communists, lol), politically I wouldn't touch Marxism-Leninism with a bargepole. I do have respect for individuals and ordinary people active in M-L movements, though. Life and death stuff. Not overturning a rival sect's trestle table in the centre of a small market town type stuff.
