The Ashes 2021/22

What are the Aussies gonna do about Hazlewood and Head being available again when Khawaja and Boland have done so well...

I wish we had these kinds of problems.

Hazlewood is a prick anyway. If they need someone to tell him he's not coming back to the side I'll do it.

Woo-hoo victory! Wait, what?

I think that was meant to be. They'll only lose 4-0 now and therefore won't be top of the list for the worst side we've sent to Aus. But they ARE the worst batting side we've sent for many years, since the last century. And I don't mean Bairstow's.

Hameed and Crawley put on 43 for the opening partnership. This is England's third highest opening partnership in the last 38 attempts against Australia.

Woke up in time to see the last two overs. Great stuff. Just so nice to have a match whose result isn't decided by the middle of day two.

Commo yesterday has Hazlewood missing the fifth test and linking with the One Day square iirc

Boland and Khawaja undroppable imo

People missing because of covid is a bit different, though. I think Head would be within his rights to expect to be recalled for Hobart. If Khawaja is to play in Hobart, I think he'll have to open. Think I might have said this already, but Harris isn't very good, and he is developing an England-like test record. Think he may be toast, and that solves that problem.

And what do you do about Hazlewood? Very senior member of the squad. And who would walk into any other side in the world. Tough problem.

Australia still have 'selectors' though, so not so personal as having the captain and the coach making the call, unlike some other sides. Well one other side.

If the series was still on the line and Hazlewood was fit, I'd say no question, he comes back in. Very tough on Boland, but there it is. Perhaps Boland could keep his place and you rest Starc, depending on the conditions - don't know much about the Hobart pitch tbh but I don't think it's fast and bouncy.

As it is, though, they can diplomatically declare that Hazlewood's not quite ready to come back.

I won’t share but Vaughan is making out the root of England’s problems lies with Jimmy Anderson. Yes Michael, clearly our world class bowler is the real issue.

This is our #invincibles year!
Is there one Aus player missing (I count 10, and think there should be 11?)?

Was someone on the boundary, just in case Anderson decided to really welly it. Obviously given the situation (including his ability with the bat), his decision was by far the better choice, but lordy it would have been great to see him just cheekily scoop it over the lot of 'em :D

Can't be anyone else behind square on the on side. Maybe somewhere in the covers/short mid-on in case Anderson spooned one there, or a leading edge to a ball turning away from him.

Uh-huh, yup, words 'n' stuff... ;)

(I think I recognise all of them and basically get the gist, but definitely couldn't draw you a diagram!)
