The American mass shooting thread

Have we had any in any other developed first world western democracy recently? It's definitely not guns though. It's violent video games. Which they definitely don't have in every other fucking developed first world western democracy.

Interesting that the local authority for that Hallowe'en party shooting are looking at banning party rentals. Because it was party rentals travelling at hundred of miles an hour that penetrated flesh and took lives...

I'm all for banning airBNBs in some cities. They drive up housing costs and lower the number of homes available for the people who live in the community. Some sections of San Francisco, which used to be family housing, has gone entirely over to short-term rentals owned by large investment companies.

Air BnB parties are a big problem in the area I work in. Lots of noise and anti-social behaviour. Apparently people from more affluent areas hire them out cos they don't want to piss of their own neighbours or get their carpets ruined. So they inflict it on the less wealthy in an area that noise abatement officers are already overstretched. And they can buy drugs more easily off the locals.

Sure, but that's another question. I just think it's breathtaking how, whenever a shooting takes place in the US, all the action is focused on ANYTHING BUT GUNS.

Although the deaths did not take place on American soil, but the victims were dual-citizenship with Mexico and US.

Trump offered Mexico military help, but was turned down.

It would appear that some feel that Americans need protection.

Americans may 'have to take matters into our own hands' after Mexican cartel murders US nationals: Sen. Tom Cotton

The U.S. government may have to take unilateral action if the Mexican government doesn't act appropriately in response to the murder of American citizens in his country, according to Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark.

Cotton, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, told Neil Cavuto on Tuesday that Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's reaction does not necessarily inspire confidence that his nation will take swift action.

"Neil, unfortunately, it's plain that the Mexican government can't handle this," he said.

"President Lopez Obrador came into office almost a year ago saying that his strategy for dealing with the cartels was going to be more hugs, not bullets. That may work in a children's fairy tale, but in the real world when three American women and six American children were gunned down and burned alive the only thing that can counteract bullets is more and bigger bullets. If the Mexican government cannot protect American citizens in Mexico, then the United States may have to take matters into our own hands."

Thing is, the Americans make refugees stay in Mexico. America say Mexico is a safe country.

eta: love the comment that the only thing to protect against bullets is bigger bullets.....
