The American mass shooting thread

In response to the shootings, one of our senators is getting some flack after saying that the GOP is enabling racists (which they are):

A Nebraska state GOP senator admitted that the Republican Party is "enabling white supremacy" on Sunday.

John McCollister, 72, who was first elected in 2014, criticized both his party and President Trump in a Sunday night Twitter thread.

"The Republican Party is enabling white supremacy in our country. As a lifelong Republican, it pains me to say this, but it’s the truth. I of course am not suggesting that all Republicans are white supremacists nor am I saying that the average Republican is even racist," he began. "What I am saying though is that the Republican Party is COMPLICIT to obvious racist and immoral activity inside our party."

Nebraska state GOP senator admits party is 'enabling white supremacy'

Instead of considering what he said, the state GOP told him to leave the party:

Nebraska GOP tells Republican lawmaker who said party is 'enabling white supremacy' to register as Democrat

What will probably happen to this senator is that Pete Ricketts will bring all of that money he's able to wield, as the billionaire spawn of billionaire parents, to fund a challenge him in the next election. He's done that in several cases of people who opposed him or his policies. It has often worked, and he's been able to stack the legislature with his fellow Catholic conservatives (sometimes referred to as "the Catholic Mafia.") He also funded the ballot initiative that put capital punishment back on the books.

Suspect in disturbance at Missouri Walmart says he was testing 2nd Amendment rights: prosecutors

A 20-year-old man who sent shoppers fleeing after he entered a Walmart store in Missouri while wearing body armor and carrying a rifle and handgun on Thursday, said he wanted to see whether the store would respect his Second Amendment rights, according to a probable cause statement released Friday.

:facepalm::facepalm:

Then there is this 2nd amendment is about right to bear arms to fight tyranny not wander about armed to the teeth because you feel like taking mr armalite for a walk :hmm:. 2nd activists have got to be some of the stupidist people on the planet, it would make sense if they were secret anti gun types but unfortunatly these pond life think they are normalising the carrying of guns:rolleyes:
A its never going to be normal to take a semi automatic rifle shopping why would you do that if you didnt have to?
B somebodys committed mass murder with a rifle who thinks I'll reassure people by walkimg into a supermarket with a semi auto, atic rifle why, would you do that:hmm:

This ‘holding a tyrannical government to account’ thing never seems to happen does it?

Pretty much one town had a corrupt sheriff and ended up being overthrown. Though the fighting was mostly done by newly returned ww2 veterans and they used national guard weapons they stole from an armoury.
And cleaned them before they returned them.

This fuckwit was stopped in time but I'm sure there'll be plenty more to come :(

The FBI arrested an 18-year-old from Ohio for making online threats — including against the federal government and Planned Parenthood — and found a large cache of weapons, authorities said.

When agents raided the Boardman, Ohio, house where Justin Olsen was living they recovered 15 rifles, 10 semi-automatic pistols and roughly 10,000 rounds of ammunition, according to a criminal complaint written by FBI Special Agent Themistocles Tsarnas and seen by NBC News.

Olsen, who wrote under the name "ArmyOfChrist," was charged Monday with one count of threatening to assault a federal law enforcement officer.

"ArmyOfChrist discussed supporting mass shootings, and assault and/or targeting of Planned Parenthood," according to Tsarnas.

May as well put this here. Make of it what you will! Lots of angry animal lovers on twitter frothing, (the dog would in this scenario probably come out on top) but we have used animals in warfare for decades, & if a dog can quickly minimise a casualty count at a school isn’t that a good position?

Something makes me uneasy about cloned dogs for law enforcement. Bit to cyberpunk for me...

Gun control groups spend over $2 million on ads since recent mass shootings while NRA talks to Trump

Gun control advocacy groups have spent more than $2 million on digital and TV ads since the mass shootings weeks ago in California, Texas and Ohio that left more than 30 dead.

An organization mostly funded by Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire and former New York mayor, is leading the way with a $935,000 ad campaign calling on Congress to require tougher background checks for gun sales along with strong red flag laws.

The NRA has spent just $14,000 on Facebook ads since last week. Instead, the group focused its recent advocacy on tweeting and being in direct contact with President Donald Trump.

why in god's name would someone need 10 semi-automatic pistols? wouldn't two suffice? and 15 rifles? surely an sks or an m4, shotgun and some sort of sniper rifle would cover pretty much every conceivable situation?
They collect them. My neighbour in florida had 200 or more rifles all german k98 ww2 rifles.Didnt even shoot them.

Theres somebody in the uk who the police made become a firearms dealer when his lee enfield collecting got to a silly stage ( the paperwork is easier on plod) he does sell the odd rifle but usually buys three more:D

His main threat to peoples health is if he corners you anorak does not even begin to cover it.

10,000 rounds sounds a lot but with with several diffrent calibres thats only a 1000 rounds a weapon which is a serious day out at a range with a semi automatic
