The American mass shooting thread

I've mentioned this guy at work before.
Working in a UK university with all the benefits that implies in terms of conditions, holidays etc and this guy in his 30s (later I heard a colleague call him "Tory boy" ) ... initially before the "online atheist community" went down the manosphere plughole, we occasionally met on summer work and swapped stories about crazy American creationists ...

Keto diet, "bone broth" ... microdosing, Peterson fanboi ... talked about his 50-something mother like she was a fragile old woman ...building a BitCoin thing at home - anti-RFID wallet ...determined to become wealthy and go "off-grid" ... He must have hated having women running the department - the whole place was a liberal bubble.
I'd heard stories about his bizarre support for Trump etc and Brexit and one day when I was trapped in a room with him he was saying how the US media was totally biased towards "the left" ... used the word "intersectionality" - first time I'd heard of it ...and when I expressed my automatic support for maginalised groups "so you're an SJW then" ... during Covid he had Trump as a Teams avatar ...

It came to a head one day when alone early in the morning around election time within a few sentences "the poor want our money" and "Muslims are outbreeding us" ... all I could come up with was "maybe you should lay off the psychedelics" ...

Later there was an email suggesting we stay away from politics.

A younger colleague of mine who is stuck working there often ended up having to work with him- though he was more robust than me ...

So this university-educated English guy working in a university and clearly sucking directly on the Faux News teat ..

I wasn't aware of the extent of what had happened to atheists.

Seems to hold up the idea that it is a poor substitute for religion.

no arguing with you green

trust me have a north Ireland trump qanon head case of a brother on law

the problem with truth seekers and the do your own research lot is they cannot tell they being groomed by the right for years

just look at the antivaxx wankers

I was just saying that the "replacement theory" from the US right even infects apparently intelligent people in the UK ...

There are indeed people in the UK who believe in the white replacement theory. For instance, here's one:

The irony here is that he writes novels about the American west.

He has a hint of Lionel Jeffries about him

not mass shooting, but more of what the f*ck!!!!

Since when did a 7 year old need a gun for at school!!!

Although the police account suggests the child was grazed by a bullet, Principal Paul Riskus emailed a letter to parents saying the student was grazed by debris. It suggested the injured student was hit with flying debris from where the bullet struck rather than the bullet itself. It also explained the student suffered “minor scrapes.”

“I would like to acknowledge how incredibly challenging (Tuesday) was for all of us. As a parent, staff member or community member of the school, the news received was emotionally difficult. The safety of our students ... is the top priority,” it said. “We will work diligently to learn from this experience and will strive to rebuild the sense of safety that was jeopardized (Tuesday).”
Oh well that makes it alright then ...

I wonder if it even made it to national news in the US ...

I witnessed a gang shooting outside my flat years ago, can't remember how many shots were fired, but someone did get shot in the leg.

Luckily, it never went to court, otherwise I might've ended up in witness protection.

Never went to court?

Did all participants put their hands up, admit that mistakes had been made, and resolve to be more careful about precise turf boundaries in the future?

you're a great poster, and my own opinion of rightists will be pretty clear all over the board, but this is not on.
Why? Unlike 90 % of my posts on this thread this one isn’t supposed to be funny. When I saw it I thought it summed up at least 60% of the violent angry men I have dealt with over the years.

So I would be genuinely interested to know why it causes you offence. Perhaps might be worth a separate thread.
