Spanish Political News

This is a photo of a municipal school in Murcia. The politicians of the PP ruling party, aided and abetted by the right wing PSOE and Ciudadans parties
have blocked all attempts to change its name. Jose Antonio was the founder of the fascist falange in the 1920's, a party based on Mussolini's blackshirts,
whose colours, slogans and name were adopted by Franco's regime.

Spain is different.

El PSOE recula y acepta que un colegio público siga llevando el nombre de José Antonio

On a more serious point, Another teacher, Manel Riu from Tremp, has been arrested by the Guardia Civil, accused of a hate crime. He posted criticism of the october 1st police violence on his facebook. I checked and his content is the same as mine here on this thread.

Thus is the atmosphere in Catalonia at the moment. They are criminalizing teachers.

La Guàrdia Civil deté un professor de l’Institut de Tremp per criticar a les xarxes la violència policial

A radio comedian from Rac1 has also been arrested for making a joke on air about the police in the ship in Barcelona.

Latest news:

Marta Rovira confirms that:

The spanish state threatened to kill Catalans.

According to Marta Rovira, nº2 in the ERC party in Catalonia, the spanish state threatened to kill Catalans on the streets using live ammunition if the catalan government went ahead with the Republic.

According to Marta Rovira, they received threats: There will be blood and it won't be with rubber bullets like on the 1st of october (referendum day), it will be much more severe. Marta Rovira said this in a radio interview today on Rac1.

Rovira acusa l’Estat d’amenaçar el Govern amb "violència extrema", "sang" i "morts al carrer" si no aturava el procés

A HUGE so what.

If some fascist twat wants to pay for a memorial advertisement in a newspaper, then let them. It isn't really promoting hatred, or anything. It is just a memorial. That is a huge difference to a publication voicing on behalf of a bigot.

I guess it depends where you want to draw the line on the concept of a free press.

---------------

This thread has become a total fucking farce anyway.

What does it say?

First lines read:

For the annulling of the historic memory law*
For the defence of the memory of the Falange
For a united national Spain

Homage to...(Insert fascist party founder)

81st anniversary of his murder

* The memory law has a main objective namely the widening of rights for people who suffered political persecution and violence during the civil war and the dictatorship.

The falange murdered the poet Lorca.

It is publicity for a demo. It is presented as a memorial notice. Whilst I would not personally publish this stuff if I was a newspaper editor, I wonder about the legality, and ethics of banning it.

Publicity for a demo in favour of a united Spain in memory of a twat.

Cheers.

Not sure about the law in Spain, but certainly in the UK a editor (or publisher) legally has final say on what appears in their papers, including paid advertising, although TBF they rarely get to see ads before the papers go to press.

A decent ad manager should pull, or refer to the editor, any ads considered 'unfit' for the publication, I certainly did when I worked in the regional press. But, again TBF, even an ad manager is unlikely to see every ad before it hits the press, long gone are the days when papers were put together on big paste-up boards with editors & managers overseeing the pages coming together.

If someone books a space and sends the artwork at the very last moment, chances are it will get pushed through the system without anyone having time to review it, so as not to miss the print slot.

That's an interesting insight into how a normal newspaper works. I think El Mundo is a bit suspect politically and probably accepted this advert, with its fascist symbol, with plenty of time to think about it. I think it reveals how shallow the transition to democracy has been in Spain in general. A political challenge comes up, after 40 years of democracy, and the PPSOE/state goes into full-on violent and judicial oppression, aided by a compliant and ideologically motivated press weho promote fascists while censoring the truth about government corruption. I have been speaking to old people who say they feel the atmosphere reminds them of what it was like when there was a dictatorship. It may not have reached that level yet but the reality here is alarming, to say the least.

Anudder Oik seems to me that large parts of the españolista neoliberal centre has decided that making an alliance with the far-right of Spanish politics, which mostly of course is the PP but also incorporates wankers like Hogar Social, is just how politics has been re-aligned.

Then, fucking well unite and fight Fascism instead of looking for some idealistic Nationalistic Cataluyna. Start, at the very start, by registering for your right to vote. You have no voice here (with me) until you have done that at least. You want to be a lawful citizen of a nation in which you preach Nationalism against Fascism? Fucking well prove it.

Yes, the PSOE's shift further to the right has been reviled here, to such an extent that even party members have been ripping up their membership cards in public (I have seen this), and the Mayor of Blanes Miquel Lupiáñez (PSC) has joined them by resigning as Mayor and from the party, ashamed of their undemocratic stance. He even spoke about when he fought oppression when he was young. Left wing parties who have had alliances with them (in hung parliaments) are breaking away in droves, including Ada Colau, the mayoress of Barcelona. As far as I can see the PSOE/PSC are finished. They threw their lot in with the most corrupt party in europe in the middle of Spain's worst democratic crisis since the dictatorship.

Here's a video of said "memorial" to accompany your post. As you well know, there have been physical attacks after every "unionist" rally. The banner (at 0:28) reads: " The youth of Spain that fights war in the streets".

Personally, I don't know if it is a good thing to allow this to happen anymore than allowing the EDF to march in the UK is a good thing, but it is possibly the price we all have to pay for democracy and relative freedom. I also stated in another post that the advertisement was 'disguised' as a memorial event.

Whatever, it has nothing to do with the independence of Catalunya other than the fact the referendum and consequent demos, violence and sabre rattling may have inspired the fascist twats.

But now Spains attorney general has ruled out taking another breath. He has ceased to remain alive!

Spain's attorney general dies at 66

This was the attorney who brought all the charges of sedition against the catalan politicians and civilians who are currently locked up or pending trial.
Apparently the 65 year old developed an infection whilst at a conference in Argentina. Last may he was reprimanded by the spanish parliament for interfering in cases where the PP were under investigation. "

"For Serious and repeated breaches of his functions"

The motion in may attributed that his actions were aimed at favoring and protecting people from the Partido Popular in two specific corruption cases, (The Leza case and another involving the president of Murcia) and it was this attitude which has aggravated the crisis in spain regarding the separation of powers between political parties and the judicial sector.

He was signing documents last thursday, so this infection was very fast.

This week in Spain:

-The government gave permission for a falangist (uniformed) homage to franco in Cordoba next to a common grave of over 120 victims of fascist repression.

-Several people arrested in Catalonia for "apology for terrorism" after attending a homage to an activist who died in the 80's and was never accused of or tried for any terrorism related charges.

-The crusade against schools continues. After defamation by Antena 3 TV against a school in Valencia, the school was assaulted and vandalized by fascists.

- A widespread nazi graffiti campaign has left its mark on monuments, political HQ's and private houses all over Catalonia.

- A local Madrid police officer who denounced nazi comments made by fellow officers in a police chat is now under police protection for the threats he has received.

- The prime minister has still not resigned despite being named in the Gurtel case, which has left a trail of about a dozen deaths in mysterious circumstances.

795 accused, 24 arrests and 10 political prisoners in the campaign against Catalonia so far. These figures include denounced teachers, mayors, people who signed a manifesto asking for the spanish police to leave a hotel in their town after the violence of the 1st of october (accused of hate), politicians and civilian activists from the peaceful independentista movement and people who have tweeted against police violence. The spanish state has stepped forward to present itself in the accusation against the satirical magazine "El Jueves" for their police cocaine joke.

Zoido (interior minister) has set up a portal on the official ministry website inviting victims to denounce hate crimes. It is titled "situation in Catalonia" and is taken for granted here that it is only for use by unionists who in reality hold a 100% monopoly on all process related hate crimes . Delitos de odio - Ministerio del Interior

Meanwhile, there are violent incidents against Catalans every day and I have noticed an increase in people asking how much more should we take? A sign of cracks in the so far spotless record of non violence from the Catalans?

This video from Vallirana last night, a small town near Barcelona.

This video shows a group of retirement age excursionists being harrassed and threatened by an "españolista" who filmed the incident himself.

He calls them terrorists and says they should be shot or thrown off the cliff, then dares them to throw him off the cliff. One women steps forward but is held back. He insults her by saying she is a slut and there are unmade beds at home she should go and make. He adds at the end that franco should come back and kill them all. This type of incident is a daily occurence now.

All of this on a cliff top and noone threw him off.

When things start to get out of control.

12 rappers, without previous convictions, have been sentenced to 2 years and a day in prison for their lyrics which according to the prosecutor is said to be "glorification of terrorism". They are said to have lyrics idiolizing Grapo, an obscure left wing terrorist group from the 70's 80's in Spain. You can check them here, most of their songs are just simply rebellious and about social and political themes:
La Insurgencia

The prosecutor compared them to Jihadists and said that their religion was the sindicalist workers struggle, albeit with justification of armed struggle. The young rappers have defended their songs saying that their lyrics are open to interpretation and are symbolic. They also state that they are young people who feel injustices and try to protest againts them thru their music. They defend the expression of emotions about society, which cannot be a crime.

Condenan a 2 años y 1 día de cárcel a los doce raperos de La Insurgencia

Spain is different.

Blimey!

Sounds like a appeal to the European Court of Human Rights is due.
