Something for everyone: George Galloway seeks Kickstarter crowdfunding for Blair documentary

Sounds interesting. Can't see Blair ending up in the Haigh because of it, though.

And why can't he just fund it himself? Surely he's got £50k kicking about. Just self-fund it, and he'll easily make the £50k back from cinemas/TV/DVD sales.

Can't follow the link. Any chance of a C+P of the precis?
The film will look at how Blair rose without trace to hijack the Labour Party and to fly it to destruction. At how a million people lie dead as a result of the Blair era. In Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, and even on the streets of western capitals, like London and Madrid. At how he feathered the beds of the rich and powerful and how finally, upon leaving office, he ruthlessly exploited his Downing Street contacts and climbed into those feathered beds himself. His Faustian pact with the likes of Rupert Murdoch, the bankers and the City slickers will be laid bare.

This film will break new and unexplored ground with never before seen footage, exclusive interviews and penetrating commentary. In addition, diplomats, investigative journalists, well-known artists and activists, as well as victims of the Blair era will all participate.

Because crowd-funding enfranchises 'small' people and also provides a valuable, free, publicity platform whilst positioning GGG as 'Champion of the oppressed'?

It would be a cracking story. American neo cons insert right wing nutter into British labour party to reduce it even further to a joke and take away all it's credability.
Then he creates a war that makes them all filthy rich without any conscience.
Nah no one would believe it.

You at the back know who I mean, yes you Lech Walesa!:)

Well good luck to the makers of this documentary. I would love to see some of the dirty tricks that Blair got up to, be publicised. If he could be brought before the Hague that would be good, but according to the article by Monbiot last year he could only be charged with offences committed during the war not the original act of aggression. As far as we know Blair had no hand in the conduct of the war itself. Or will evidence be uncovered that shows he did?

How did Galloway manage to appear younger than before in that video? He must have had a makeover.

Not if they refuse to be (beyond stock footage) or for some reason are unable to be - i.e death.
I don't think that the intention of Galloway is to cause to the death of Blair. The Hague doesn't deal in death penalties. I am sure that when embarrassing - to Blair, evidence is gathered that he will be presented with it. He can be filmed in his reaction even if he refuses to directly answer any questions.

Who would we get to play Blair?

Yes, I've heard that it's very easy to gain access to Tony Blair. I've heard he also really agrees to do interviews that with people like gg that much potentially embarrass him.

Not a great fan of Galloway or the anti-war 'Bliar' fraternity, but I would pay to see this, I think there is a lot more to come out of Blair more covert involvement in international affairs and his rise to power, but also his crucial role in beginning the brutal 'welfare reforms', sadly I don't think George is interested in the latter.
Though it does look he is going to investigate the whole phemenomon(sic) of New Labour, which I believe to have been corrupt to the core, entryists and whom basically led a coup in the LP.

they have thought long and hard about the 'rewards' I notice

btw, do donations always materialise?

How can they make a major doc for 50'000? is anyone getting paid?

I'm not entirely sure what Thatcher meant by her greatest achievement was New Labour.

I think his whole point... as he is at pains to point out on the video... is that anybody can do this nowadays for a fraction of what it would have cost even a few years ago.

Maybe he will make a series of them. Good for him.
