Shoplifting on the rise

There was a paper recycling plant near where I used to live which had loads. I built up quite a collection before my parents noticed :D
My collection seemed to grow under hedges. I remember (circa 1980 or so) a mate calling round the house breathless with excitement saying that he’d found the motherlode in the field behind the dairy. It had been built over some considerable time as there were mags that dated back to the 60s!

Waitrose/John Lewis are offering free coffees to popo "in a bid to deter shoplifters." Hard times.

John Lewis Partnership, which owns both brands, has written to the Police Federation to say officers can make the most of the offer - as long as they bring a reusable cup.

Its head of security said that even just having a police car parked outside might deter would-be thieves.

In John Lewis, police officers will be able to use staff cafeterias for breaks and buy discounted food there too.

A light fingered type may have stolen them from an aged stalk tugger's home and kept them there for future rod tuning.

Is a cop going to walk around with their own mug to take advantage of this promotion? Not convinced - I suspect this is a Waitrose press release masquerading as a news story

how do you shoplift a kebab?

I've seen people trying it on at a busy take away late at night trying to take advantage of the queues waiting for their orders, jumping in with "where's my so and so, I have been waiting ages" the shop were wise to it though and an argument would pursue.

I think it's more about encouraging members of the uniformed people to attend in an attempt to reduce general bad behaviour amongst customers. I think accepting hand outs from businesses should be a disciplinary but as with teachers who are allowed to receive shed loads of offerings from parents it has become common practice.

I've yet to see any of these purported shed loads of free shit. But if there was any free shit, myself and any other teacher would gladly trade it in to get back all the hours we work for free.

We'd also be quite happy if, instead of bringing in imaginary bribes for teachers, parents adequately clothed, fed and socialised their children.
