Pubs open

Well it looks like I may not make it on Saturday, by the time OH has caught up on his sleep (he tends to take Saturday nights off as he has trouble getting home early Sunday morning what with tubes starting later), it'll probably be time for me to start cooking ready to sit down for Eurovision. The weather will probably be shit anyway!

Went for a walk earlier. The Spoons on our High Road was showing no signs of a boycott, so I'm guessing that tosser will carrying on raking it in

The photos of Boris Johnson grinning whilst pulling a pint to celebrate his triumph over the virus are notably missing arent they.

Yeah he was going to do that when the outdoor reopening happened but then Phillip died and scuppered that plan. And now we are into a period of variant concerns and local hotspots I believe it has been deemed inappropriate to encourage such behaviour. Nor do I expect to see any 'stuff yer face to help the virus gain pace' (AKA Eat Out To Help Out) stuff at the moment. Maybe later if their confidence grows.

Meeting a mate in a boozer of his choice ( :( ) at 4:30 today,, as well .....

I can see how this might continue in coming weeks  :D

BUT
I've resolved to not be in the pub at all on working days (other than Thursdays ;) )

Doing end-of-day overtime and getting home late, will be an incentive to come sraight home .....

I went on Tuesday. It was pretty quiet. A big group of young lads turned up just before the football started who had booked 2 tables as their party was 8 but they were mingling between both tables which was a bit sketchy. I will also admit that the more beers I had the less careful I was with masks and sanitising. Good night though and great to have a pint and a chat about life with some mates.

I've been to the pub for lunch every day this week, by myself. I had no idea how much I was gagging for it. All my work at being frugal over the last 6 months or whatever it's been just gone. It's just nice sitting in a room of people. That's how desperate I've become for human contact. Off now for another round.,

I like Oakham Citra. Must get back to the UK for some proper beer. I get my second vaccine end of July here, and hopefully, the PCR tests might be phased out by end of summer.
How long have you been away? The microbrew/small brew scene has completely exploded here  This shop is a going concern in my miniscule village. I spent £15 on under a litre, but 18+abv, of mad hard lemonade and a loopy Just Brazil flavoured stout the other day 🤪

I was back last November for five days for a minor operation but I had to quarantine and everything was shut. Last time I had a pint in England was January before the first lockdown. This was the last pub I had a drink in

It certainly has, in Worthing there's been an explosion in specialist brew shops & micro-pubs opening, and at least 2 pubs with their own breweries.

Ten Bar actually brews in the bar itself...

And, the former Beechhouse Hall is now the 'Brewhouse & Kitchen' with 'Brewtel' bedrooms, which I haven't been in yet, but it says their micro-brewery sits right in the heart of the pub.

They do 'brewery experience' days, which I can see would get very messy. :D

Spend the day brewing a beer with one of our award-winning brewers!

Get hands on and get involved! Our microbrewery sits right in the heart of our beautiful brewpub, you will be treated to breakfast, lunch and a lot of beers throughout the day. As your day comes to a close you will also get to choose a 5 Litre mini keg of beer to take away with you.

This experience is perfect to enjoy on your own (with our brewer of course) or as part of a group!

I've been in Suffolk since last Friday , drank in the car park of the only pub in the village (Dunwich) a few times (weather was ok) finally ventured indoors yesterday for my 1st indoors pint since December, it was pretty empty (it was 4pm tbf , and they weren't doing food til later) . It was lovely sitting in a pub & having a pint.

Hope the booking a table to go to pubs doesn’t catch on. I only decide if I fancy a pint a few minutes in advance and usually pop in on my own. They won’t want to give me a table when it could be used for a larger group
