Massive earthquake and tsunamis hit Japan

Some good news; A ship carrying 81 people that was swept out to sea by the reseeding tsunami waters has been found intact with all 81 people alive. They have been airlifted to safety

On a positive note, Sky just said a boat that was swept by the wave has been located and all 81 passengers are alive and have been rescued. Presumably it's the one reported through the day as missing.

Excellent news. Wonder if they've found that missing train yet?

In this clip you see the girls holding up the booze section ,fuck that i would of grab a bottle of best scotch and found a safe corner to steady my nerve

A lot of the clips show just how confident the Japanese are with their earthquake resistant buildings. I think it's mainly the Tsunami that has caused most of the problem...they've been dealing with earthquakes for years but there's not much you can do against a fuckoff huge and fast moving wall of water.

They've been showing that clip all day. I'm not sure I'd bother holding the booze up, especially considering it's glass. I'd head towards the plastic bottles of water and food. Being buried with booze is fine for a couple of days, but not if there's a load of broken glass around you

Well it's lucky it wasn't any worse in this Californian harbour considering the amount of people standing there watching it

^ It had thousands of K's of ocean to dissapate energy before it got to 'holy crap no waay land, what happened to those little atols in the middle.

Yeah I know it did, but if it had been a bit more lively, there's a few people on that embankment that could have ended up in the water

Sure I just heard that Tonga has just had a 7.0m quake and Japan's had a few more big aftershocks

I have a mate there who, thankfully is ok but his bedroom got 'a bit trashed'...

As for the reactors, well I hope they can sort it.

and in a separate incident in California

The search continues for one person missing off the coast of Northern California after a tsunami caused by a deadly earthquake in Japan swept across the Pacific Ocean.

Three people taking pictures of the surf near the mouth of the Klamath River, about 20 miles south of Crescent City, Calif., were surprised by large waves and swept into the water, said Cindy Henderson, emergency services officer for Del Norte County.

Two of the people struggled out of the surf and a male in his 20s is still missing, and is now the focus of a search and rescue operation, said a Coast Guard spokesman.

Maybe they hadn't heard the warnings? :hmm:

apparently theres still been an earthquake. despite what you may have heard there still may have been an earthquake.

Guardian:

Jesus: "An expert from the USGS has told CNN that the quake appears to have moved Japan's main island by 8 feet and shifted the world on its axis. "

My sister-in-law's brother lives in Sendai. We managed to get through to him and he's fine, took him 7 hours to walk home from work though. He says it's not too bad away from the coast.

nearly had to smack some cunt last night, banging on about how funny his text jokes about all this was. (they weren't even very funny)
