Fucking hell - look at this footage of the tsunami sweeping through Kesennuma City.

...the cars look like they're going very slowly in comparison but I'm sure they're not.
Well yes...Radio 4 said:Reporter in Japan said:Oh... there's another aftershock.Presenter said:Another aftershock right now? Can you describe what that feels like?Reporter in Japan said:There's some shaking.
Well yes...
This is a crazy little video. Not so much in a destruction style, but more of a 'ooer, that's odd' style. The ground moving back and forth.
Yep, there's been plenty well over 6. I think there was a 7 yesterday

this to me has been one of the more disturbing... if you watch the bottom of the screen, you see people driving their cars on the roads trying to get away from the water, turning around, driving into fields as the mass of water and debris and boats just moves so fast, chasing after them...the cars look like they're going very slowly in comparison but I'm sure they're not.
I still haven't heard from my language assistant. She's married to someone locally (in South London) and volunteers to help me at school 2x a week. She just went back to visit but her husband and family here haven't been able to contact her. Also still not heard from my fireman ex-boyfriend. Rikuzentakata is in his district and looking at the news from there - things are not good. I'm really beginning to worry about them. It's a wierd, horrid feeling - can't do anything at all but I really want to help somehow.

I'd forgotten that of course you know people there. Hope you have good news soon.
It seems most vehicles end up floating on top, I'd certainly rather be in a car than a timber house in that situation.
