Massive earthquake and tsunamis hit Japan

aah, sorry, was (slightly miss)quoting the thingy i linked to. Still, quite a ferrocious mountain kicking off by the looks of things.

More stupid questions on BBC news, speaking to a local resident

BBC: Have you ever felt anything like that before

Local Resident: Actually yes, I'm quite often in earthquakes of this magnitude and I have baths every day so a little tsunami didn't bother me in the slightest

BBC: Have there been many aftershocks?

Local Resident: Not that I'm aware of, but I don't have access to the internet or news to look

wtf? that person sounds like a real life troll.

Very difficult viewing.

but some heartening ones as well. The girl crying had heard her mother was alive.

The father (or brother) with young boy standing looking at the destruction is like something from the end of a disaster film.

No. 34 is a bit... I'm not sure if that's a body there or a dummy or something that just looks like a body :(

No. 4 is just sad. They look like a load of dejected refugees wandering with nowhere to go and if that wasn't enough, it looks like it's shit weather

They're all horribly sad

Oh, Sky News - just pulling some elderly survivors from a car who had been trapped for 20 hours :)

oh, I see. :D

Was sort of a response to Corax's post at No. 490

Well yes...

Same as the one posted earlier isn't it, except it slides slower.

Still great the way it's done though

Think I prefer this one though

Just been reading about this breakwater that was only completed in 2009 at huge cost. Not sure how much more damage the area would have sustained had the breakwater not been there, but it seems like a lot of money to have spent on something that's not really stopped this particular tsunami, although I'm guessing it's worked for smaller tsunamis

Very little could probably stop that particular tsunami

Cliffs like you get in Cornwall can take it, much less, like anything that's constructed has the potential to be blown away like matches in a hurricane (cyclone).

There was a 6.2 aftershock 118k offshore, the reports appear to come from naval vessels,by the look of the spokesman who appeared scared shitless on NHK there is a lot of confusion.

blimey, just shows how high the water must of been. :(
