Local Elections (not that London) 2024

A couple of Mayoral elections worth following: In the North East Labour are ahead in the betting but the independent Jamie Driscoll is running a decent campaign .In Tees Valley Tory poster boy Houchen is favourite to be re=elected but there has been some good investigative journalism about the racket that is the Teeswork Free Port which might dent his campaign.
Driscoll is getting my vote later after work. A lot of campaigning in teeside to get rid of houchen. I hope to god he doesn't win :( .

Only PCC elections round here, in a constituency almost designed to be ever-Tory.

I've walked past the polling station four times today and it did occur to me that if Labour can't win it now then this PCC will always be Tory, slow-witted waste of space that they are. Then I thought what a bunch of cunts the Labour party is at the moment and decided minimising the turnout is the best option. I did end up explaining the concept of a mandate to my kids as I walked them home from school.

I hope they argued back. “What practical difference in the exercise of power does turnout make to this nebulous mandate concept, daddy?” would have been quite a poser.

Oops...
Oh well never mind...
That will explain the lack of activity when I cycled past the primary school earlier.
I'm in bed now
I hope I don't miss the general....

Had a pleasant doorstep chat with the Labour candidate for my ward the other day. Told him why I couldn't, and wouldn't, vote for him. He sighed and pretty much agreed. I guess I wasn't his first of the day.

Shame. He seems decent. If he ran as an indie he'd get my vote.
I laughed at mine when I saw the labour part of his outfit and said no thanks. He was okay and I felt a bit out of order, but I wasn't in the right place to have an adequate conversation. If he's reading this I'm sorry.

After these two Tory fuckwits forget their ID and loads more Tories would have too, will they drop the ID requirement for the GE? Is that even possible?
