Liverpool bomb incident 14/11/21

Looks like the hospital was the target and all NHS organisations are being advised to review their security. Fucking terrifying and just what NHS staff need after the past two years.

Where are you reading that? According to the cabbies' mates (in the Mail of course), they got stuck in traffic so he asked to change his drop off address.

I know this has probably been covered - and I'm sure the cabbie is a good guy - but cab doors are always locked until the fare is paid. I'm not 100% sure 'hero' applies here, just really really lucky.

It seems a bit more likely he'd be targeting the parade on Remembrance Sunday than a maternity hospital tbf. He improvised - a bit like the prick who blew up the bus in Russell Square.

I agree with you. But (if it is a Jihadi) they also like particular dates. 911 didn’t mean an attack on the police.

Cop said at a press briefing today that the taxi was booked to go to the hospital.

Russ Jackson, Assistant Chief Constable of the Counter Terror Police North West, confirmed the explosion was now being treated as a terrorist incident.

He revealed the man who died in the vehicle blaze was believed to have built the bomb that caused the fireball that engulfed the taxi he booked to take him from Rutland Avenue, near Sefton Park, to the Women's Hospital.

The timing of the blast, 10.59am, has led to speculation it may have been linked to Remembrance Sunday.
But while ACC Jackson said this was a line of inquiry that was being pursued, he added: "We cannot at this time draw any connection with this."

Fair enough - if that's true then it's even more insane. Im assuming the cabbie is being protected from the media so we won't know the truth for a while. Just so random to blow it up outside a small hospital - minutes before 11am on Remembrance Sunday when there's a huge crowd forming to celebrate British soldiers nearby. Maybe he booked the cabbie to go to the hospital and was planning to change him to ask him to change his route? The hospital being the target just seems so random.

From that article - this is completely wrong btw

When asked about the reports of the driver and if Ms Anderson had been told by the authorities, she said: "Well, we knew that the taxi driver had stood out and locked the doors, we knew that early on."

He was clearly still in the driver's seat when the bomb went off and probably hadn't unlocked the doors as the bomb exploded as soon as they pulled up. He got out after the explosion, no?

Surely they are unlocked by the cabbie in any case?

Another item for the Liverpool victim complex too
Not impressed. At all. You've surprised me Elpenor , thought you were ok.
Off-topic but just to clear this up:

Maybe check out what happened with the Hillsborough disaster and it's immediate aftermath, the long campaign for justice, and put that together with the smearing of the football fans (& the city by association) having a victim mentality.
This.

Yes, once the fare's paid (in my experience). They had literally only just pulled up when the bomb went off.
This is totally irrelevant if it is true that he knew they had a bomb though right

ETA but aye fair point about the moving vehicle, I am not sure who would be able to report he refused to let them out anyway

Front page of The Guardian. On phone so difficult to link.
Eta TBF they are not saying it's 100% confirmed, just that NHS has been advised to review security.
