Joe Biden

I haven't seen polling data for the Rustbelt states, but if it has Biden ahead and its accurate then I agree that makes him winning a lot more likely.

It's a good point about Sanders - the stitch up will have angered a lot of people and there was no obvious stitch up this time, they just drowned him out.
Promising in Florida and many other key states.

Course things can change a lot over the 4 months but Biden is a very good position at the moment.
Personally barring some massive fuck up I can't see Biden losing the popular vote, in fact I'd be surprised if he did not win it by a bigger margin than Clinton did, and I think that Biden is probably favourite to win the electoral college vote too. But as I said still four months to go

Biden doesn't actually have to do anything, the advisors will effectively run the country, as long as he isn't Trump. Even a hatstand would be better than Trump.
Trump is just too crazy to be in any position of power.

It's seeing people say things like this that make me really doubt Biden will win.

How is Trump any "crazier" than other Presidents? How is Biden "sane" in comparison?

Only three months to go now.

Trump regularly claims he's a genius. He seems to be a bit paranoid about perceptions of his intelligence. At the same time he refers to Biden as a "low IQ" individual.

On course for the White House, he's 77, is running the vaguest all-things-to-all-people campaign ever, appears to have some form of dementia, and isn't Trump. He's shortly going pick his running-mate, probably a black woman, who may well end up succeeding him as president.

What do we expect from a Biden presidency? FDR-like climate change action? A return to business as usual with military intervention overseas? Improved relations with China?

Biden is mentally shot according to Trump - and he’s correct.

Biden is basically a Trojan horse for the far left extremists of the Dems.

Are these the same far-left 'extremists' that are brainwashing American kids in schools? Because that's what Trump claims.

Trumps a media whore... He will be still in the news if not more so... Tweeting between gifting and golf rounds (no change there) ..also the media need him to generate content and outrage, he is good for their business ..... . Possibly with his own TV station too . He, and his white magatards will make Bindens life and the country's absolute divisive hell, with now even less constraints..... Then there is the potential of trials against him and the rest of his gifting spawn... With discovery....

Methinks... Its going to be just as bad... Maybe even worse. Particularly if there's no effective vaccine ..... Bindens going to be a disposable one termer, to clear the carnage left from trump and take a hit, and also lose the weak democratic old guard and take them with him... To make way for somebody with real chops and reconciliation .... More than likely a female president. The Democrats have got quite a few younger capable women in the wings.

Trump has been a celebrity for decades, I've always been aware of him, but him being president just means that he is always in the news. I'm hoping that he is out in November and he goes back to being a famous twat, I guess it's very like his friend Kanye West. I am aware of him, I like a lot of his music, but when he has a mental health issue it's one of those bits of the news that I don't read, Trump as president has had endless coverage and opinion pieces about him and he has managed to wind everyone up on both sides.

As long as he has more anecdotes about ‘Corn Pop’ and the gang, or how he gets excited when children touch his leg at the pool, or whatever, then I think we’re going to do juuust fine.

Honestly though there’s obvs no way Biden wins, but I’m curious, however, just what the cultural shift might be with regard to our current, vehement embrace of ‘social justice issues’ - whether all the unending political hostility, ‘cancel culture’ etc, will finally see itself at all mitigated since orange bad man won’t be on everyone’s tv all day anymore filling them with some deranged rancor.

I would have voted for Buttigieg - mostly for a laugh but very partly bc of his (whimsical/ridiculous) stance on drugprison reform. I would have also voted for Bernie, just because I think he was the most likely candidate to legalize weed, and get some (real) drug reform accomplished.

Would have considered Gabbard or Yang, but yeah I would (am) vote(ing) for Trump well over any of the rest of them.

I just can’t wait for 2022 when Biden is ultimately deemed mentally incompetent for the position, and the autistic, physically disabled trans woman of color that he blindly picks for VP at the behest of no fucking body finally becomes POTUS, and takes this country where it needs to be.

I’m just glad Warren didn’t get the nomination; hers seemed like it was going to be the most gimmicky ‘social justice’ themed campaign of them all. Bunch of fucking cartoon characters trying to run for president...

They may be all cartoon characters, but is chosing the unashamedly racist, socialist-baiting, science hating sex offender really the best choice?

we have a winner for the most demented post of the year. Move over marty1, there's a new Clown In Town.
How DO you justify voting for a racist, misogynist, conspiracist loonspud, and what makes him likely to win?

Because sticking it to the social justice warrior libs, or something

on what do you base that 'definitely lose', and why does it not matter?

Basically, I think as bad a performer as Trump is, he is also fairly used to doing it by now, and if he hasn't already put you off ever voting for him nothing he says in the debates will. He's not going to say anything that generates any more negative coverage than he would get in a normal week. He's not gonna put anyone off voting for him who isn't already not voting for him.

Biden on the other hand is an even worse performer. Trump can sometimes be funny (at least to people likely to vote for him and can sometimes rile people up against a target and get them onside. Biden can't do that. He isn't going to have moments like that and a couple of big gaffes could really hurt him by putting off potential voters who could easily choose to not vote or vote for a 3rd party candidate.

But, assuming the polling is correct and Biden is ahead in key states and Democrat core voters turn out in big numbers, it probably won't matter for the reasons that have been discussed.

7/4 on Trump to win by the way. I might have a pop at it if it goes a bit longer.

All v fair points, but I think one key thing to remember, is that before becoming VP, Biden had 36 years in the Senate, which is a helluva lot of debating experience. I agree he's a poor platform performer, but it's virtual;ly impossible to get under his skin, whereas trump has the temperament of a particularly thin-skinned, hormonal adolescent.
I expect both to be rubbish, tbh

Be interesting to see if Trump does that weird walking behind the opponent thing he did with Clinton.

What the hell was that all about?
