Not on the issue of disability benefits, although my wife (who's also my carer) got hassle from JC+ about attending a "work-centred interview". She phoned them and said that of course she'd be happy to come in, given that they could satisfy the following conditions:
That they provide and pay for a carer to look after me (including assisting with "bodily functions") while she attended, or
That they hold the interview in an accessible building with facilities that disability-friendly so that I could come with her, and that they paid for transport to bring us to the interview and take us home.
They apologised for having bothered her, and said there would be no further letters.

I knew they could be discretionary about these things! My friend who is a lone parent and carer is getting the same kind of hassle. So far their cretinous advice has been that she should 'get a boyfriend' or their security will be able to *take care * (ie restrain a disabled child).

This 'get a boyfriend' lark......the DWP are like the gestapo when you get a boyfriend......???? They immediately think the boyfriend can support you + your child......+ some mums get followed, watched, spied on to see if the boyfriend stays more than 3 nights.

I always tell them ...no my circumstances have not changed.....no boyfriend and no I am not marrying someone coz they are paying me to even tho it is very tempting whilst living below the poverty line.

Mind you think they have just mucked up all mine out of spite.......just to ruin xmas for me........just because they can.

Its not strictly 3 nights it's over a variety of things they decide on but if ya ever get yer money stopped always appeal. They take into consideration various things from shopping together, sleeping together and where his mail goes etc, the CAB have a book with all of it in

everyone on benefit has been hounded, I should imagine. That's the only way they know how to communicate with people. They are systematically incapable of actually helping people in a productive way at all.

I don't get JSA, though, so don't know the procedure, as that benefit is dealt with differently, and the JSA claimers may well get hassle.

one employee whined at me 'do you want a letter or not?........as an organisation a letter should have been sent informing me of any changes...........having a fully grown northern woman........act like a child in a playground instead of like professional adults.

I do not take things personally ....if they are doing it to me......I multiply it........coz they must being doing it to others....less articulate, less able to defend themselves.

I got a letter about income support, I have communication verbal disabilities. My psych care co-ordinator has agreed to take the call, am just awaiting the ok from the income support people.

So, my paranoia was getting the better of me after all.
When I get an overload of negativity from outside of me, its all to easy for me, not just to fear the worst, but to assume it has happened.
Years ago, when I had my IB medical, I think, if I can remember rightly, they offered to come to my home to conduct the interview.

Nowadays you have to request a home visit for IB medicals (unless your regional office already uses a "roving" service, but they do still have to do so.

If you're on JSA you get nothing but hassle because the little hitlers in charge work under the assumption that, as there are jobs, you, the claimant, being without one is simply a factor of your own inherent laziness. It's an untenable and offensive policy.

If one were given to search for silver linings with a veracity bordering on the obsessive then one might take some heart from the possibility that during the impending boom in unemployment at least some of these wretched swine might entertain the possibility that the fact there are fewer jobs than people is at least as potent a contributing factor to an individual's being unemployed as is said individual's presumed laziness and absence of social conscience.

With great difficulty if you live in an area that doesn't have a lot of employment, or is fairly seasonal.

According to a cuz out in the empty top bit of Norfolk, he's had hassle about how he should be looking for (minimum hourly rate) jobs in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, which are about 30 and 35 miles away respectively. In effect, the first 1.5-2 hours' worth of pay he earned each day would be taken up by the cost of fuel for his old banger to get him there and back, and all because there are bugger-all non-part time jobs to be had where he lives.

I read somewhere, about two years ago, that the government were thinking of funding mopeds for students in Norfolk who lived out in the sticks. Not sure if it was actually put into practice.
