I think that might be the final straw for me at the RailUK forums

I'm only banned for a week, but I'm thinking I won't go back anyway, because the way the place is run just winds me up. It's THE most bizarrely moderated forum I've ever had the displeasure of being a member of. I'd already severely curtailed my posting (after previously being pretty prolific) after my last run in with the powers that be a few years ago.

Doesn't look like particularly bizarre moderating to me. Obviously they're a bit less tolerant of bunfightitude than here, but seems pretty reasonable to me. The behaviour they're dealing with is a nice example of what sheothebudworths referred to as "FURY" :)
Undermining a previous decision already made by a mod, that's the way to run a forum.

Happens. It's what goes on when people interact, even mods. People disagree, change their minds, revise their opinions.

Your life would be infinitely easier if you were able to admit that you are sometimes wrong. It's the reliability with which you won't admit that which makes a Bungle thread a source of amusement here. Although that is helped by the furiously angry posting style :), which is probably what earned you the ban in the other place.

I think you asked for it, tbh.

The other posters were making perfectly valid points and you got the arse.
Then I'll put the same point to you as I did them: why would anyone consult changes to services at a station that has nothing to do with the journey they want to make?

Absolutely. Who doesn't?
Someone who already knows the times of the services that they wan't to catch?

Sometimes, I didn't used to.

There, I said it.

But seriously...if you're on a non-time-critical journey where it doesn't matter if you miss a connection or arrive 10 mins late, *shrug*. If you're trying to make a tight connection half way across the country*...well, I'd have checked the timetable AND be refreshing the realtimetrains page for my train on a minute by minute basis :D. Probably with multiple windows for all the other legs of the journey, too...

*basically, any journey which, if significantly messed up, is going to prompt you to take to the Internet to protest about it.

Except you didn't. Because they had changed. Cache miss.
