Hamas/Israel conflict: news and discussion

Fuck Israel. Fuck them. I'm actually looking forward to Monday when Trump gets his hands on the keys. On this front anyway.
Dont fall for that. Gaza is rubble, mission complete, the survivors starving in tents. The next job is the West Bank and Trump is (likely) on board

Obviously, I’ve been reading the thread from time to time and it’s telling that I felt compelled to post for the first time in ages due, once again, to your arrogance.

It’s not surprising give your lack of self awareness that you don’t see this pattern, but you certainly have regularly chastised folks who’ve posted links without comment on why. The Blinken clip was the most recent: “But what did you think of it?” you asked the poster (an innocent sounding question in itself, until it’s looked at in the context of the above) . In this instance the clip needs no context as it’s self-explanatory and for some reason has been ignored by main stream media.

Anyway, I’m joining the other 97 who have you on ignore. If you won’t accept some personal responsibility for your actions, then it’s the only reasonable recourse.
oh pipe down you pompous windbag. if as you make out my asking people on a discussion board for their opinions - or as you allege for why they've posted up a video or tweet -is really really bad you shouldn't be on here anyway. i would ask you for your opinion on their last six months of slaughter in gaza but i think your view wouldn't be anywhere near as cogent as that of the miserable coffeecup. you've nothing to offer and it would be a blessing if you put me on ignore, at least then we'd be rid of your verbose and ill-founded nonsense.

Really? Stop with the passive aggressive crap.

I've listened to the video now ... I may be wrong but it sounds like the wishful thinking about Ukraine winning we heard in that war

Axis of Resistance is shattered. Of course there will always be some degree of resistance, I don't believe anyone believed theyd really kill every last Hamas sympathiser.

The key thing is occupation of Gaza. The video claims Natanyahu is humiliated and has agreed to withdraw all troops from the territory. Let's come back to this this time next year or even the year after. I don't believe it for a second.

Israel is in on a long term mission and what happens this week is irrelevant to that.

Netanyahu and many of his supporters believed they could literally destroy Hamas. That has proven to be a difficult, if not, an impossible task, despite the rhetoric. If anything, the Israel's military action in Gaza has acted as a recruiting sergeant for Hamas.

I don't believe they did. It's stories for citizens.
Axis of Resistance is pretty fucked
Only, I'm not talking about the so-called Axis of Resistance, I'm talking about the resistance in Palestine.

Many Israelis believed Hamas could be obliterated. That was never an achievable goal. The history of colonialism and resistance shows us this. Algeria and Vietnam are the obvious examples.

Yes of course, it's obvious. Saying We Need to Keep Going gives them the threadbare legitimacy they can point to in occupying Gaza.
Hamas still exists! We must fight on!

I really hope that Jared Kushener's real estate plans die on the vine. Apparently he's recently doubled his stake in an Israeli real estate company and has been previously quoted making approving noises regarding the suitability of Gaza beachfront locations for 'redevelopment'.

they've given it a bloody good go, and when the palestinians in gaza are counted again there will be (i think) at least a quarter of a million fewer than there were before - and quite possibly a greater number of dead than that

According to the below piece in Ynet, (for which you will need a translation app) Netanyahu has acquiesced to Smotrich's demands that the IDF will recommence it's operations in Gaza:

As if Netanyahu doesn't want that too.
This is theatre

It was always clear that Hamas wouldn't be destroyed. Give it a few years and once they've had chance to rebuild they'll be stronger than ever. I suspect the same with Hezbollah too.
In manpower/membership, maybe...but materials is a different matter if the route from Iran via Syria is compromised.

Syria is obviously very much up in the air at the moment but I'm sure ways to resupply both Hamas and Hezbollah will be found (if they didn't already exist anyway).

As for the so called ceasefire, I wonder how Netanyahu and his bunch of human rights abusers will prevent aid agencies from getting out the true extent of the horrors they have meted out. I fully expect it to be far worse than the appalling things we already know about. More importantly, how will our so called leaders try to worm their way out of any complicity.

Based on what? How can people living in rubble rebuild "stronger than ever" when their opponent is the most powerful imperial state in human history with a military spend bigger than the next 10 countries combined (or whatever it is precisely)
