Glastonbury 2022

Glastonbury 2022!

It's going to be the absolute fucking Mutt's, isn't it?

More stages/areas to come, as well! :)

It's a city the size of Bath!, you know .... without all the boring no-music bits too! :p

Last thing fior tonight : Has anyone so far posted the less-recently-announced Arcadia line-up?!

(**with 'More Acts to be Announced!')

Really! last thing : Riff : Is there a larger version of that site-map to be found anywhere?

ETA, Thursday 12/5) : the fuller-sized version of the site map can be clicked to near the top of this page. It's not all that full in size though! :hmm:

I have reservations abot this new version of the map TBH. Crew area shown in white -- should be a more contrasting colour IMO.

And I properly do hope that the printed version has the field names in bigger print than in the online, Minisculeland! version!
Not sure when we (Info Crew) will get our printed copies -- at some time after our online training (Monday 22nd May), I should think

Other drawbacks/reservations are available ......

This has been up on the official Festival site for a while I think, but I'm glad to see that it's placed quite prominently -- Michael Eavis's wise words on keeping Worthy Farm clean and green during and after the event.

I'm sure that on the Monday and following days after, there'll be some truly disgusting sights to be seen , but after the 2019 Festival, there were at least some signs of improvement, at least in some areas.

We can only hope for a higher proportion of sensible types! Please!

[ETA much later, to add actual link above  ]

Perhaps two years stuck inside contemplating the world will have made people more considerate.

Am personally interested in seeing what the crowds do this year.

We had our Info Crew Training on Sunday (22/5) :)

This was in Zoom form, and I have to say that on-line training (for our first ever time!) turned out to be far more boring than the trad face-to-face training we'd been used to ahead of previous Glastonburies! :( :hmm:

ETA : They banged on about Covid to an over-lengthy extent IMO (and esppecially in festivaldeb's O! :D ), which given that Covid-restrictions will actually be quite limited at Glastonbury 2022 (to my surpise!), did become somewhat tedious!

Otherwise, it seems that remarkably little has changed, site-lay-out-wise and generally

Biggest two :

1. For Arcadia, The Spider! will be back! -- apparantly the logistics, etc., of bringing 2019's Crane back were too troublesome, but we weren't told any other details :hmm:

2. BBC Introducing will not be in Silver Hayes any more -- they've moved it to a stretch not far below Left Field, heading down towards Pyramid/Cider Bus area.

Struggling to think of any more significant (or any!) changes around the public areas, although I'm sure some Market details, etc, will have altered.

For 'Orange Camping' (Dairy Ground), (staff/crew/volunteers), some Stewarding crews have been moved away from there to outside the Fence.

We (info Crew) have been allocated a slightly larger crew-camping area, right at the top of Orange Camping, very near to Vehicle Gate 4 and to Pedestrian Gate D ( I think that's right! ). We're not sharing with our pals in the Property Lock-Up crew any more, though ..... :(

If I remember anything else, I'll post that soon, but for now, just assume that Glastonbury 2022 will be near-identical infrastructurally, to Glastonbury 2019!

The weather will surely be as good as well :D :p

First aid tents no longer located at Silver Hayes and Greenfields.

West Campervan area replaced with a pre-erected glamping area inside the Superfence called Sticklinch and close to PGD.

All campervan areas are now located at the traditional East camping area and Bath and West Showground. A shuttle bus runs from the latter.

The Wateraid kiosks are being replaced by water bars. Not sure what the difference is, mind.

Sorry, yes!!  -- there aren't that many changes, but those there are, are much more important than I remembered to post above!

We were in fact told in the Training Session about the Medical Centre thing -- now we have only the (huge) Field Hospital and related Medical facilities in Big Ground. Still having the Medical Centre near the Co-Op is a big relief though, because it's pretty near our Crew Camping! ;)

The West Campervan area now being gone! is also significant -- with Bath and West being expanded to accomodate many more vehicles! I suspect that the East Campervan area (top of Hill of Death! :D )) will also be larger now, than tradionally ...

Apparantly, 'Sticklinch' will be for pre-erected camping** with fairly standard tents (recovered from being dumped, in previous years??).

If I'm correct, that pre-erected camping** was in a area at the top of Pennards last time, just below the Tipi Fields.

**As opposed to the Yurts and mini-Marquees for 'Glamping' in that field right above he top of Pennards .....

I can see those new 'Water Bars' working quite well -- they'll be having increased volunteer numbers, apparantly (?), and there won't be any shortage of those Bars around the site, judging from the map we were shown on Zoom ....... :)

What's the chances of someone on this forum hearing about some job openings at Glastonbury (people dropping out, last minute staff requests etc) and popping up on here and letting someone like myself know? :hmm:;)

I've seen comments from other volunteer groups saying that their camp sites are also moving to outside the fence this year, they are not happy.

The issue with the crane not being on site is that the planning authority wouldn't give it approval to be left up permanently. The costs to dismantle and rebuild each year meant this wasn't feasible. I prefer the spider.

It's happening!!!!!!

The crucial questions:

1. Is it worth seeing Paul McCartney just for Hey Jude?

2. Kendrick Lamarr or Pet Shop Boys?
