Glastonbury 2009

Although he had a warm up festival gig in Holland a couple of weeks ago, this was Springsteen’s first ever big festival outing and it must have been quite interesting; can’t imagine he’s ever played the first few bars of Thunder Road anytime in the past 30 years and the audience hasn’t instantly gone loopy.

For someone who feeds off audience reaction and rapour to the extent he does, it must all have come as a bit of a shock that the majority of the audience didn’t know every word of every song; The BBC didn’t even get all the names of the toons right. He kept plugging away though. Top old skool showman.

You have to admire Springsteen’s energy and commitment but it was all a bit too American for me. God help me, it was old man rock and I didn’t like it that much. CS&N on the other hand . . .

Enjoyed Franz Ferdinand and The Boss.

Thought all Pendulums songs sounded the same.

What is it about Jo Willey, it really isn't just her sycophantic, star fucker, smug, pseudo cool rock chick schtick . . . it's more, much , much more :hmm:

I just want to kill her. nnnggghhh

and that cunt zane namedropper fucking lowe
I think Wiley and Lowe are alright. They're much better than Gemma!

Whenever a normal person says 'Glastonbury' they pronounce it Glastonbree. But whenever a performer says it they pronounce it Glastonberry.

Yep. Pendulum - only watched a couple just to see what they were like. As expected, dreadful.

Franz Ferdinand on the other hand - who I've never had much time for - were excellent.

Springsteen looks fucking amazing in this clip where he guested with the Gaslight Anthem - his energy and enthusiasm is something else, and I can't imagine how chuffed the band must have been.

Aye, that's a right moment. The man Springsteen has ten times my energy at two thirds of his age.

I'm getting the feeling, admittedly while being in London over the weekend, that there haven't been very many top notch sets at Glastonbury this time. It feels as if Blur really need to play a blinder tonight to compensate for a general sense of "meh" after the first two days.

Blur in 98 was one of the worst headline acts I have seen at any festival. Just a personal opinion but they were dull.

Heard a bit of Bon Iver's set from Glasto on Radio 6 earlier and it sounded brilliant. Hope they show that later. Fleet Foxes looked brill I thought, as did Florence and the Machine.

Tom Jones just played a blinder - I know, I know - what a band though session folks no doubt but by christ
