Glastonbury 2009

The regularity of mud Glastonburys does seem to support the theory that the UK weather is changing to incorporate an early summer rainy season.

as i was about to post, before the power cuts, fiercesome storms over glasto.

Biblical even.

:-(

In, sorted had a good nights sleep. Apparently there was an accident on the M4 which contributed to the queues. Also some cunt of a coach driver got two miiles from the site, threw a strop, said he wasn't going any further and made everyone, including several disabled people, get off and walk 2 miles with all their stuff. I hope he gets sacked for that.

Here comes the rain!!

The coach driver, as a holder of a PSV licence has strict legal obligations regarding the maximum driving time allowed. If he exceeds these, he loses his licence and his job. His employer should have known better than to send just one driver, two would have been appropriate.

Aaaah, a lovely sunny day in SW Scotland.
My first Glasto - '92 and wall to wall sunshine, my last, 07, thundery monsoons.
I've just set up Radio 6 and run a couple of speakers outside, I'm going to have a fry up and eat it on a paper plate in the garden, then a few spliffs and a couple of cans of Stella.......
Jo Wiley has just reported heavy rain and rapidly expanding puddles.
Shine on lovely Scottish sun:cool:

Loving the twitter blog :)

Still looks quite green from that. I've been to Glastonburies where it's trench-foot territory by Friday lunchtime.
Hard to tell right now. When the crowds clear and the sun comes up tomorrow, things might look different.

Thing is, once the ground's wet, it stays wet cos the drainage is so bad. Can't be help with such clay soil.

When was the last desert-dry, HOT, dusty Glastonbury? I went to a couple but I'm actually wondering if I imagined it.

Really wish I was there though (and I say that every year since I stopped).

Looking pretty muddy from the photos on the ed's link, now, mind. Inevitable, really. That bit just left of The Pyramid near the cider bus goes swampy very quickly.

97 and 98 were mudfests. 1999 and 2000 were really hot and dry IIRC. then 03 and 04 were generally meh. 05 was hideous, 06 was a break, 07 was also wet. I think 08 wasn't too bad.

every 5th year is a break - 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006 and presumably 2011. Shit, I'd better go next year.

the first time i went was a scorcher. i was a young and naive 17 year old. so naive, in fact, that when a girl in a nearby tent asked me if i had any papers, i said "i've got the NME"... :D
