Glastonbury 2009

My house is on the main road that leads to Glastonbury, so not only do I get to know the weather 1st hand (rather than keep telling myself 'its shit its pissing down hahah') but I get to see all the happy bastards driving past........and all the fuckups driving back on Monday. I think I had about 3 crashes outside my house last year :D

I still may head down though.....you never know

How local to the site are you? Local enough to know if there's somewhere I can use wifi on the Thursday?

I'm very excited today! I am wearing my badge that entitles me to a free pint of Brothers at work today

I got a couple of them in the post yesterday  I don't think they'll last longer than weds afternoon. Did you get the crappy hat too? I've already given it away to a mate at work.

Last day at work today, then I can concentrate on getting bits for Glasto and Packing :)

Another possible plan:

I could go with mate early Thursday and get dropped off somewhere with wifi and work from 'home' and then head into the fray at 4/5pm

So anywhere near the site with wifi?

All help appreciated, possibly with cider.

Why don't you get your mate to drop you at Bristol Temple Meads station. Sit in the Wetherspoons or cafe all day 'working from home', then get on one of the shuttle buses from the station? Think they're £10 or £15ish...

Sounds possible - do Wetherspoons have wifi then?

(Thanks btw)

That's blocked here as 'alchohol and tobacco'

Sorry to be a pain but could some see if it's free? I need to send emails all day so if it's one of those 'cloud' pay as you go things it could be a bit expensive

Affirmitive cap'n ;)

I couldn't bring myself to copy and paste that bit about browsing with burgers / surfing with sausages :D

How local to the site are you? Local enough to know if there's somewhere I can use wifi on the Thursday?

There were vans on site on Sunday with 'Broadband Events' logos, or something similar.

Not sure what they are setting up, but I did find a BT Openzone network at the farm.

Probably no help for you, but might be useful for others.

I think I might be up for a bit of this... when you say it kicks off at 3.30am friday you do mean thursay night into friday morning don't you?

Good question, Friday going into Saturday I think. They've got quite a few sound system DJs so probably lots going on all night.

Should be in the programme you'll get going in. If not, you could take a nosy and ask earlier on.

Yeah I got the hat too - it's a bit bright isn't it?! I gave it to my boy as it won't fit over my massive hair do.

van is here within an hour allegedly, greenpeace may be unimpressed with our tardiness...

2 crates of lager, 1 crate of cider should do me for drinks?

Anyone know if a brothers fabric wristband gets you anything? Got given one at an event a couple of weeks ago and didn't put it on, so pondering taking it along to see what i can blag with it.

tssk tssk, has no one mentioned the absolute essential?

The coffee grinder! Cant do a festie without one

man after my own heart, but I've been told off in the past for waking people up with grinding noises and these days have to make do with pre-ground :(

My travel plans aren't getting any clearer so it's looking like I'm going to have to drive.

If I a park up a convertible Audi A4 (not a Bentley, not a Roller I grant you, but a soft-top that maybe a little flash), what are the odds of some weekend warrior keying it to bring capitalism to it's knees?

And how bad is the traffic going to be. I'd be leaving an office in Croydon at 4or so.....

Its hardly anything mega special is it.

Once you park it in the field and the crowd gets ready and moves on, your car disappears into a huge field of cars, quite a few much nicer than your A4 I can assure you. All that will happen is that it will get dusty over the time its there.

There aren't hordes of people running around in the car park. 1 every now and again reluctantly going back to the car.
