naaah, they weren't really that wild.

Honest ;)

I'll be there with four very good friends - bringing them all to the urban encampment.

I'm intending to go down for early Wednesday morning to put up the tents for my mates and generally relax from early on - anyone got a spare space going down? :)

Blimey, there's enough people from here going!

I'll definitely make an effort to come wander by the U75 camp this year :)

Failing that, there'll be an Urbanite Cider Bus meet from around 8 pm or so on Wednesday and Thursday night ... well maybe a little later than 8 but whatever ...

So, where to camp? Crew area or with you lot?

pie eye & i will be up in toms field with the occasional forray into the festival i think.

there are pro's & cons to staying up at the top - your stuff is safer, its less far to walk to work, you're there in case they change anything or need to give you information, you bond with your fellow oxfamites etc. however its at the top of a bloody steep hill, none of your mates can come back and visit you, its full of people working, and its a little steralised. but it has hot showers.

Look at it this way: the first few is novelty, the next few habit, then nostalgia. After that it's purely sad, demonstrating a complete lack of imagination and an inability to grow up :p

and a cold terror at having to find something else to do that w/e every year

(i think this is oficially 20 and unoficially 21 for me)

Excuse the ignorance but how do you get an official figure and an unofficial figure?!

Well i first went to glasto in 1995 as a wide eyed 15yr old.. so this will be my 10yr anniversery!! Got the most amount of people coming too ever this time including lots of glasto virgins! I cant wait to see the looks on thier faces when they see the place :D I went 95,99,02,03,04 so this will be my sixth time!

I have failed to meet urbanites everytime.. maybe this time

I think I'm going! :)

Not 100% sure yet though, the funds haven't gone from my account yet, and I only just put them in. But they've said it all looks ok

Yeah, I figured most of that.

I also am reckoning that after getting there, registering etc etc I'm not gonna be arsed enough to walk all the way down to the bottom of the site to set up shop there.

Tom's Field probably unless anyone's so desperate for me to be at camp Urban then

I got no idea how im getting there or what Im going to do when I get there, for ages. My mates don't come down with the tent for a couple of days

kinda cool in a way, good way to meet people - I just walk around with a grin and accent, that gets me through all sortsa shit lol :D

So... no money, no means to get there, but I got a ticket. How long will it take to walk? Portsmouth to Glastonbury... anyone got a post code for the campsite?

you take the first figure, which is 20, which is how many festivals i've been to. then you add the second figure, 1, which is the amount of party/festivals i've had on site in non festival years (held for and by production staff (there has only been one i know of)).

I've only just registered what you put there bouncer.

I went to my first one in 1995 (I was 17), it was brilliant, then again in 1999, & 2000. I tried to go in 2002 too but failed, ended up on that old airfield in Smeatharpe (which was quality by the way). While I was at Glastonbury in 2002 I was shocked at the type of people I saw there, the lack of atmosphere & any apparent noise after about midnight/1am. It seemed odd and not like Glastonbury at all to me. I said I wouldn't go again but now I am missing it.

Have you noticed any similar changes? Should I go again or will I just be dissappointed?

EDIT> I ask cos we seem to have been there at similar times/ages.

I first went in '92 as a 15 y/o.

The sketchyness has definitely gone and the characters which went with it - I loved it back then though, was mental.

It's definitely a safer place these days - which is nice as one gets older :D ;)
