Lewis Hamilton racism storm intensifies as ANOTHER Nelson Piquet slur comes to light

A new video has emerged which appears to show disgraced former Formula 1 champion Nelson Piquet appearing to target Lewis Hamilton with a slur for a second time. The Brazilian has been condemned by the F1 world this week after footage from last year resurfaced, showing him referring to the Mercedes star by using a slang variation of the n-word in Portuguese. Piquet claimed there was no racial intent, but he is still expected to be banned from the sport by the FIA.

That ban seems only more likely now, after fresh footage in which the three-time world champion appears to use a homophobic slur, while also targeting Nico Rosberg and father Keke as well as the Brit. "Keke? He was a s*! Zero value," Piquet says, before adding: "His son [Nico] won the championship. The 'n***' was [more focused on] giving a at that time. He was kinda bad." The new footage is likely to anger Hamilton further, in the wake of his impassioned response to being targeted by Piquet's initial racial slur. "In the last couple of weeks, I don't think a day has gone by when someone who has not been relevant in our sport for decades has not been saying negative things and trying to bring me down," he told reporters at Silverstone. "But I am still here and still standing strong. I'm focused on my work and pushing for diversity and inclusion in our sport. It's time for actual real action. Formula 1, the media, we should not be giving these people a platform. I've always tried to be respectful to these individuals but why did we give these guys a platform? They are not with the time, they are not willing to change. These micro-aggressions and racial undertones are just creating more divides. I love when Michelle Obama says when they go low, we go high so I try to do that. I'm still here and it’s not going to deter me from doing what is right and doing what I love, which is working in this sport."

And Max Verstappen, whose girlfriend Kelly is Piquet's daughter, leapt to the defence of the Brazilian by claiming he is a "nice guy" and "not a racist", though he did admit that he had been wrong to use the slur. "I've spent a bit of time with Nelson – more than the average person in general – and he's definitely not a racist," said the Dutchman. "He's actually a really nice and relaxed guy. The wording which was used – even though there are different kinds of cultures and it's probably something they said when they were younger – was not correct. He knows that himself. I don't think he needs me to tell him what is right and what isn't. Let it be a lesson for the future not to use that word because it's very offensive. It can be interpreted in two ways and people pick up on the bad side and of course it gets really blown out of proportion. People label him as a racist now which I don't think he is, but I fully agree of course you cannot use these words."

The BRDC also banned the Brazilian from the British Grand Prix and plans to terminate his Honorary membership. Hamilton hit back at Piquet on Twitter after the attack, claiming the time had come for action. He posted: “It’s more than language. These archaic mindsets need to change and have no place in our sport. I’ve been surrounded by these attitudes and targeted my whole life. There has been plenty of time to learn. Time has come for action.”

Senna sued him over it, Piquet claimed it was "just gamesmanship". Nelson Piquet isn't really that popular in Brazil, most sports star here are treated like gods but Piquet really is an exception to that. He fuck himself with many Brazilians when he answer a question like this many years ago, he was asked "who is the best driver you or Senna?" his reply was "well I'm still alive". Senna is like a god here, right up there with Pele and Piquet's comments pissed off millions of people.

He has been condemned in the press here and has been kicked off a number of media commitments, but he is rich and will just say "I don't give a fuck" but he will, this will fuck his ego and he has a massive ego.

Is it just me, or might 1%er not be paying the bar bill this weekend? Merc pace looks not just improved, but actually competitive… A Lewis win would certainly send (most of) the crowd home happy

Mercedes are looking like they're in the mix.

Could be a Merc win, but I wouldn't like to say which driver...
Incidentally I was just updating my fantasy F1 team on fantasygp.com and I see Russell now has a higher price tag than Hamilton, which is a complete turn around from the start of the season, when Russell could be had for around 2/3 the cost of Lewis.

I do hope they score well this weekend - the “no bouncing” comment from George gives me hope they are finally getting a grip on their issues.

Free Practice 3

Max Verstappen set an impressive pace as Red Bull finished one-two in final practice at the British Grand Prix. The reigning champion sent a clear message to his rivals by finishing four-tenths clear of teammate Sergio Perez, with Charles Leclerc fractionally slower in third. Early on, the session saw Mercedes and Ferrari chip away at their initial best times before Verstappen immediately went half a second faster on his first flying lap. Though the others would work their way down to within a tenth of Max, the Dutchman then found another half a second on his second set of tyres, setting the benchmark at 1m27.901s.

Teammate Sergio Perez then put his Red Bull into P2 to lead Leclerc and the two Mercedes' of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton in fourth and fifth, with the four drivers covered by just 0.14s. Friday pacesetter Carlos Sainz was two-tenths further back in sixth in the second Ferrari. The midfield was equally close with Lando Norris leading in seventh, less than a tenth clear of Valtteri Bottas in eighth. Mick Schumacher, both Alpines and Sebastian Vettel all lapped in the 1m29.5s in P9 to P12. Alex Albon continued to show promise in the upgraded Williams in 14th. In contrast, AlphaTauri continued to struggle in 15th for Pierre Gasly and 17th for Yuki Tsunoda. Daniel Ricciardo was 1.1s slower than McLaren teammate Norris in 18th, as Nicholas Latifi and Kevin Magnussen completed the standings.

Hamilton handed blow to British GP victory hopes

Mercedes technical director Mike Elliott has dealt a blow to Lewis Hamilton's hopes of victory at the British Grand Prix by claiming a win is not on the cards. Hamilton sparked hopes of what would be a record-breaking ninth success at Silverstone after finishing second quickest in Friday practice behind only Ferrari's Carlos Sainz. The turn of pace led Red Bull team principal Christian Horner to concede that Mercedes could be in the hunt on Sunday but, although welcoming the prediction, Elliott was quick to lower expectations. "I hope he's right, [but] we're realistic," said Elliott. "We had a decent showing in the short-run pace but I'm sure Ferrari and Red Bull have still got more to come. The long-run looked pretty encouraging but there wasn't a huge amount of laps done and it's difficult to judge from that. If we've made a decent step forward in pace, we'll be happy with that and we can keep chipping away and building from there. A win on Sunday would be really nice but that's probably a little bit far for us."

Mercedes upgrades "not a miracle"
Mercedes has brought a significant upgrade package to the British Grand Prix with major changes made to the front suspension and floor. Assessing the impact of the updates, Elliott added: "So far, so good. Obviously, we lost the best part of P1 with the weather. Generally, we're happy with what we have seen. The upgrades have delivered what we wanted. They're not a miracle that is suddenly going to jump us to the front of the grid but they're a good step in the right direction. What is pleasing for me is that we've been able to develop those and bring them without making any of our problems worse, some of the bouncing problems that we had earlier in the season. So, hopefully, our understanding there has improved and we can keep chipping away and moving forward from here."

[Christian Horner doesn't believe Mercedes will be running at the front at all, he is just blowing smoke. I am hoping to see Mercedes make a step forward but to bring more than half a second a lap to an F1 car with a few upgrades is really wishful thinking, but I'll be very happy if they do manage it]

have no idea whats up with Danny Ric

but sitting out most of q3 whilst your team mate is 1.2 second ahead is not good look for any driver

still hoping he somehow manages to turn it around

I'd love to see Jamie Chadwick in F1 racing against the best. Would a team take a chance on her without her having at least 1 season in F2? She is 24 now which is old to become an F1 driver by todays standards, so if she had to have a season in F2 she'd be 26 when starting in F1.
