Sainz to replace Palmer from next race
Carlos Sainz will replace Jolyon Palmer for the last four races of the Formula One season according to Renault. Sainz was due to join from Toro Rosso at the end of the year but Renault said in a statement that the team and Palmer had now agreed to end their relationship by mutual agreement after Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix. So he will join Renault for the U.S. Grand Prix, Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.

Palmer has said in a statement “The Japanese Grand Prix will be my last race for Renault. It’s been an extremely challenging season and I’ve been through a lot in the last three years, but it’s been a tremendous journey overall with the team. My immediate focus is now on achieving the best possible result in the Japanese GP, and then I can assess my options for the future”.

His early departure will see the return to Toro Rosso in Austin of Russian driver Daniil Kvyat, who was recently dropped to make way for French rookie Pierre Gasly. Toro Rosso have yet to finalize their 2018 lineup but confirmed the move in a separate statement.

The Grid after all the penalties for the 5 drivers so far in Japan that have been applied, Fernando Alonso, Carlos Sainz and Jolyon Palmer took on additional power unit elements and are subsequently demoted 35, 20 and 20, while Valtteri Bottas who qualified second and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen who qualified sixth lose five places following gearbox changes.

At least sending the Meringue on the grid-walk gives Martin someone to talk to .

I wonder if they'll try to snatch a few words with the pole sitter?

I was bout to post something rude about the Japanese gentleman who sounds like he's in considerable pain.

But as it's a national anthem I shall show respect and restraint.

:)

As Vettel has retired, Hammy just needs to score points. Max knows this, and will start putting some strong moves on Hammy knowing Hammy will not defend the position too much.

Suki (Dooki) the bloody cat has managed to unplug the internet. No breakfast for her. She can eat the bloody mice she catches.

The problem for Red Bull is that Bottas is on the soft tyre and can stay out much longer than those in front of him and so he could hold up the Red bulls when they come out, if they catch him
