Has Ron Dennis been suspended?
There is talk in the press that Ron Dennis will not be at this weekends Brazilian GP having been suspended by the McLaren board. Dennis went to the High Court in an effort to stop the board of McLaren suspending him and lost. As mentioned above, he has been trying to find investors to take a controlling interest in McLaren but has failed to do so, now his longtime friend and business partner Mansour Ojje (who owns 25%) has joined forces with Mumtalakat investment fund (which is owned by the Bahraini royal family and who own 50% of the company) and want to oust Dennis from the company. Last week Ron presented a £1.65 billion takeover backed by Chinese investors to the board of McLaren but the board rejected the offer and told Dennis to go on "gardening leave" until his contract with the company ends in January, he is Chairman and CEO but his power has gone as the board will not accept any of his recommendation from this point on.

It is believed that the shareholders are not happy that the team finished last season at an all-time low only managing 9th in the constructors title race and also that he has been unable to secure a main sponsor for the team who have been without one since Vodafone left back in 2013.

While McLaren have refused to comment on this issue I'm sure we will hear more about it over the weekend during the GP coverage, is this the end for Ron :confused:

K-Mag confirmed at Haas for 2017

As predicted above K-mag has got the drive at Haas which leaves Esteban Gutierrez without a seat, but I think he will return to Sauber, it is his only option if he wants to stay on the grid. He isn't very happy that the decision has been left so late as only Manor and Sauber have seats. He is reported as saying "There were a lot of mechanical problems. As a new team there were a lot of things going, a lot of mistakes. There were some mistakes from my side as well, but it was more from the team. I don't think I was evaluated the right way. I respect it, but I don't necessarily agree with it. My priority is staying in Formula 1, but it has to make sense as a plan for the future, not only to stay driving but to have something that makes sense".

Jolyon Palmer confirmed at Renault for 2017
Talk in the paddock is that the team wanted to keep K-mag but as he is moving to Haas, it is being reported that Jolyon has signed a one year extension to his contract to remain at Renault. Palmer is reported as saying, "for me, it's been a steep learning curve driving in Formula 1 and I know that I am performing better than ever, and that there's still more to come. There is tremendous drive and enthusiasm in Enstone and Viry looking to next year and I am honoured to be part of this'. The team has not yet confirmed this so maybe there could be a late change, but it is thought unlikely.

Okay, the director is showing us celebs.

Who is Lara Alverez, and why is her (admittedly pretty) clock more important than Alonso's gearbox?

Ahhhh :) All the booze and food collected for tomorrows barbecue now time to relax and watch the qualifying with a few cold ones :)

That was an interesting conversation with Toto about him calling Jos asking him to speak with Max about not getting involved in the battle between Lewis and Nico, Martin said at the end "your angry aren't you" to Toto, I wonder who it was that leaked the story of that private telephone conversation

OK I'll catch you guys tomorrow for what I hope will be a great race, I'm not going to hold my breath for rain as Sao Paulo is so unpredictable for weather

It is raining in Sao Paulo state (but it is a big state) and was "pissing down" about an hour ago, but the people I've spoken to all live over 100km from Interlagos, but it is raining both to the west and east of the track so I'm guessing it is raining there as well.

The news in Brazil is that this could be one of the last GP to be held here, it is being reported that 2017 will be the last race (but I don't believe it personally), the country has no money and the State is in the same situation (if you want to find public money you need to look in the pockets of the politicos as they have stolen it all). The world cup and Olympics cost the country a small fortune, as again much of the money went into politicos pockets so both projects cost over twice what they were costed at. Apparently Bernie met with President Temer but he couldn't give a shit as despite being made president he is banned from standing for any political office again for 8 years because he was found guilty of corruption (found guilty before he was made president for fucks sake).

The drivers are being carted around on the back of a flat-bed truck - much like a delivery of coal or potatoes - and they look pretty miserable.

So even if the rain stops now we will have a wet start, but it is still raining to the west of the track so could be there for a while

I am going to be driving when the race is on so will miss it. But can anyone explain the math where the title hopefuls are concerned at the moment. For example can Rosberg win today without a win?

Rosberg is champion if he wins or finishes:
2nd with Hamilton 4th or lower
...
6th with Hamilton not scoring.

nothing else really matters because if the Mercedes finish, they're going to be in the top 3 or 4.

Cut and paste :)
Nico Rosberg will be crowned F1 world champion if he wins the Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend.

However, if Lewis Hamilton wins the title fight will definitely go the final round in Abu Dhabi.

Beyond that there are a number of different title permutations depending on where the drivers finish.

If Hamilton is second, Rosberg needs to win in Brazil to be champion.

If Hamilton is third, Rosberg needs to win in Brazil to be champion

If Hamilton is fourth, Rosberg needs to be second to be champion. They would be tied on points and race wins if Hamilton won in Abu Dhabi and Rosberg did not score, but Rosberg would win the title by having more second-place finishes.

If Hamilton is fifth, Rosberg needs to be second in Brazil to be champion.

If Hamilton is sixth, Rosberg needs to be third in Brazil to be champion.

Hamilton is seventh, Rosberg needs to be third to be champion.

Hamilton is eighth, Rosberg needs to be fourth.

Hamilton is ninth, Rosberg needs to be fifth.

Hamilton is 10th , Rosberg needs to be sixth.

Confused? With Mercedes likely to be at the head of the field, the simplest way to look at it is a victory for Rosberg gives him the title, while a Hamilton win takes it to Abu Dhabi.
