F1 2016

Lewis was really lucky that the 2 Ferrari's and the red bull had a first corner indecent gained him 3 easy places, looks like a podium from 21st place start :)

It's sad in a way that Nico's season (and Mercedes career) is really defined in terms of Lewis.

So far, Nico's built up a big points lead.

His main rival has had bad luck with his loud parts. (fnarr, fnarrr)

His rival wins back all the lost points and more.

His rival gets race penalties.

His rival races from the back row to the podium.

His rival is still ahead in points.

His rival has the best inventory of loud parts on the grid.

McLaren 6th in the constructors championship and Red Bull in 2nd, who'd have thunk it at the start of the season :)

Slightly less boring than usual but still quite dull and predictable.

I hope next year the Honda Ferrari and Renault engines are more competitive with Mercedes as that seems the only way it will become interesting again. At least for me.

Bottas to stay at Williams
It is being reported in the German press that Valtteri Bottas has signed a two year extension to his contract with Williams, so maybe that is another driver off the market. The story also claims that Williams already had an option on Bottas for 2017 that they needed to trigger before the end of August.

More changes at Ferrari?
Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne has added more pressure on the team ahead of Monza, speaking at the University in Rome he is reported to have said "anyone who doesn't bring results should leave. That is a rule that applies to everyone, even me. We have an obligation to achieve the goals we have set ourselves". It seems clear from the comments by the drivers and team members at last weekends race in Spa that many at Ferrari are feeling the pressure.

Interesting conversation about new races
There was an interesting chat on the F1 radio show yesterday, it dealt with tracks that are having problems meeting the hosting fee and where new races could be held. With the promoters of the races in Italy, Germany, Brazil and the USA having difficulty making any money, while governments are also wanting to cut back on the money they are paying for F1 to race in their countries and regions, what could be the result.

Well it isn't as easy to solve this as it may seem by just holding races in other countries that say they want one. Apparently, there is a clause in a number of contract with teams and media companies that says, "Formula One must present a calendar that has at least half the races in Europe and the United States". With the current calendar of 21 races, 11 are in Europe and the USA, but how long can F1 keep to that?

I have a feeling that Monza will make an announcement next weekend saying how long their new contract will be and Austin say they now have sorted-out their problems over State funding for the race there, but Germany is still struggling to find funding for at least one of there tracks.

Fair doos i wasn't trying to achieve results before but now you've said that i'll give it a go. Let me just turn this magic screw that makes us faster than everyone else. Dunno why i didn't do it sooner to be honest.

I'm sure whoever replaces us will make an instant difference somehow. Its not like its an ongoing process.
