I think im probably leaning towards a sub forum.

THe amount of interest and debate - and threads - around the eleciton is only going to grow over the next six weeks. (we havent had the seat /share of the vote predicton thread yet. then theres norn iron and scotland and wales who warrent threads of their own ) . And this is a looking to be a Big Exciting Election -with a tory wipe out on the cards - and the fun of their campaign crashing on take off. So yeah.

Might make it a bit easier to find election related discussion, but I imagine a lot of UK P&P threads will be about that anyway...
Might make avoiding it a bit easier :hmm:

Megathreads are the worst thing about this place, IMO. I don't understand the fear of starting a new thread for a new topic.

Ian Bothan has just died? Cool, start a RIP thread. Don't bump the thread about his dispute with the RSPB just because it's the most recent thread you could find that featured him.

They're hard to keep up with, go off on wild tangents, and end up with the same handful of people arguing from entrenched positions.

They also bury potentially important/interesting news that might have been of interest to other posters who aren't in the megathread for whatever reason.
Rather than thread merges we could request splices.

I have an idea that I'm slightly interested in: what about a sub forum to host discussion on all forthcoming and archived election chat?

Like the post if you think it's a whizzo idea or just ignore it. I don't care. No irons in the fire, not my hill to die on etc etc,

It might work. (I'm often linking to VoteUK which does exactly this).

Sometimes I see all the by-election threads started by myself and steveseagull and feel a bit guilty that we've flooded general 😶‍🌫️

I was against this but now I'm like oh look, lots of related threads in one convenient location.

Also makes non-election threads easier to find amongst all the what colour hat is George Galloway wearing this season stuff.

I think if the sub-forum gets archived, I'll start a new Political Polling thread in UK P, P & CA for the run down to 2029!
