I've done the jeans thing and given up. I have big thighs so it will impossible to find jeans loose on the thigh, generous on the hips, flattering of arse and small of waist. grrr.

I have big thighs too. I can't wear fashionable clothes any more.

I'm going to find some well fitting skirts.
What shops are good for what they call sharp tailoring? I need a good black pencil skirt and I need some good black trousers for short people

Hobbs. If you buy a wide-leg or a mid-cut trouser, they can be taken up w/o ruining the hang/appearance.

Go to Rigby & Peller. Seriously. Get fitted properly. If you can buy a bra there then great (start from about £25) but if you can't afford it, then at least you can see what a properly fitted bra should look like.

Go for 4.5. My feet are really wide and at first I thought I should have got the 4s but the 3.5s are fine. And they're really, really comfy

I am still coveting the Superdry coat I posted a few pages ago, but haven't got the cash to splash yet. I also need a pair of flat black boots, but it is nightmare to find any because a) I am really picky and b) cycling has given me MASSIVE calves that don't tend to fit into boots, let alone with skinny jeans tucked in there too. I also want some silver and green Mac eyeshadows that a friend has, used them at the weekend and they were soooooo nice. As usual I need new tights too. I don't understand how normal people wear tights for more than a day without laddering them

Joe Browns. The one I tried on was in Dorothy Perkins though, and had little bows not buttons at the neckline.

I tried it on 3 times, then didn't get it
