Clubs of the rich and powerful?

fabian society
This is actually a good example. I wasn't just interested in right wing neo-liberal warmongers, though their clubs might have had the most obviously damaging effects in recent years. The Fabian Society has been a drag on political organising in the country for a good while.

I really feel all these clubs deserve a book about them or something. Maybe called something like How The Rich Organise (while stopping you from doing the same).

Probably not news to many on here.

Europe’s neo-liberal road began at Mont Pélerin
August 7, 2015
However, its members did not limit themselves to publishing articles and books. Many of them have come to occupy central positions in the apparatus of the governments of a number of countries. At the time of the Reagan presidency (1981-88), about more than a quarter of the eighty economic advisers of the President were members of the Mont Pélerin Society. The financial liberalization decided by the Thatcher government in the first half of the 1980s, which has changed the face of the British economy, were developed largely by the Institute of Economic Affairs, a subsidiary of the society founded and directed by two partners, Antony Fisher and Ralph Harris. The captains of industry in France and Germany have always been numerous among the ranks of the Mont Pélerin Society, entertaining close relationships with members in the world of politics.

That's not exclusive though. Even I was a member when I lived in the UK. (Good prices for G&T IIRC)

That don't look like 'good prices' to me...and even if the fucking stuff was free, why on earth would you seek to join the company of such a bunch of complete cunts?

How much is membership?
The current annual membership fee is £385 (UK & EU). There is an election fee of £220 but if you join for two years or more, you will receive a substantial discount on that fee.

It was business. At the time I was CEO of an SME. It was networking.

Oh, I see. So once your workers or customers had paid for the membership you could swan around necking subsidised G&Ts with a load of cunts. Nice.

You must have fitted-in very well.
I did, thank you.

Think of this before being so quick to judge. By meeting other business people I was able to get work. No work=no jobs for anyone. Which was worse, me going and find work to keep all of us in jobs, or me not going, not getting the work and all of us being unemployed?

You appear to be under the impression that human needs (& wants) can only be met in one way, and that you, personally, are/were exclusively essential to that process. That's quite possibly one of the most narrow-minded, mis-guided and narcissistic posts I've seen here.

Your boozy hob-knobbing with other self-selecting psychopaths has nothing to do with increasing the sum of human happiness, but everything to do with the accumulation of wealth by your employers.

You tool.

How do you think the world works? As I said, I found work to keep me, and others, in jobs. That was my job. I did it well. I kept 400 people in jobs. This meant they had money to eat, to keep food on the table. It meant I could do the same. That's how life really works.

Yes, quite obviously, it's all about you, isn't it? We should all be grateful that a visionary wealth-creator like yourself graciously made it possible for other people to do their work. There can be no other way of meeting human needs, can there?

Villa's fans can't be that Tory overall. I don't understand. I just thought about their two famous cuntwads.

The reality is that we all do different jobs which in turn help others do theirs. No amount of idealism is going to change that anytime soon, whether you like it or not.

Not to be taken seriously; smaple size of 772 = 39 respondents/club on average = crap polling correlation.
We all know that, in reality, Chelski take the 'award' for having the highest % of right-wing, racist scum...and their fans are not too clever either.
